Personally that is how i would like us to line up vs France and see how it goes, vs the Aussies initially Brough (assuming he is eligible) has earned his shot over Myler, he has had an excellent season great kicking game and likes to ruffle a few feathers, running with both Tomkins and Myler in my opinion is a risk too far, and not necessary as Brough has yet to have a shot and has yet to fail unlike Burrow, Pryce and McGuire.

Agree. Sinfield has been a great leader for Leeds but it is a different game at international level. Not sure about Burrow at this level either - too prone to getting knocked out in heavy challenges leaving us a player down.
As for Pryce, I think he could make a excellent contribution at full back where there is no-one outstanding available, although he hasn't played there for a while.

Surely Briscoe deserves a chance at FB at long last?

If he was good enough he would have been picked ahead of Wellens years ago. He's just Wellens Mk2 - solid and dependable and a decent support player but not fast or creative enough.
I'd rather play Pryce there as a Hodgson/Webb style playmaking FB or try someone with pace to burn like Cudjoe.

So we might aswell go with Briscoe. If he and Wingnut are so similar the fact that Shaun can do the 100 metres in less than 20 seconds should swing it in his favour.

| Quote ="NickyKiss"I don't think Smith will select Sinfield tbh.
He had him in and out of the side in the World cup when O'Loughlin wasn't fit and now that he is I think he'll pick him. He picked him for the NZ home series a couple of years back when Lockers was superb for him and then selected him for the mid season French test this year before he had to pull out.
Sinfield just isn't physical enough to compete against the Kiwi's and Aussies imo. He gets dominated with the ball and doesn't dominate the tackle like Lockers does.

I think he will be in the squad no doubt IMO but may just miss out on a starting spot, I would like us to put Lockers at 13 and player Morley and Burgess in the second row as we cannot match the aussies in the backs so lets steam roll them up front. Your spot on about Sinfield though.
Quote ="NickyKiss"He's a good player imo.
He's lost a little pace over the last couple of years but his games abit more rounded.
If the pack can get him abit of room to work in he won't let us down.'"
IMO Leon Pryce is the better player but I would like to see us play Pryce at centre as he has pace, good defence and he can create things out wide and up the middle if he gets a quick playe the ball, this would allow him to come in and out of the game when he likes, but we cannot have our 6 against Aus only coming alive when we get a quick PTB as we don't get many up the middle.
McGuire will be the best option but it still shows how poor we are in this area. I just fear that he will not have enough space to do anything yet again which is why i would be tempted to play Tomkins and Eastmond as they both create their own space. I say try them against Wales and France. McGuire needs to be given space to play really well but some players sometimes only the best can create their own.
If we are going to get near Aus and NZ we need our pack to be on top for 60 mins of the game and for our backs to take every oppertunity we get which could be limited to around 3! Our defence as always at international level will have to be top draw. I worry about our sliding defence under smith though it was poor in the WC and this can cause us to leave gaps in the middle, the last thing we want to do is give Aus and NZ more options than they already have!

| Tomkins and Myler at 6 and 7, start as we mean to go on. I wouldn't worry about Mylers defence, Briers was awful until Che coached him.

We must also pick on form. Myler has not played well for half of the year because he has been on the sidelines or his head has been elsewhere.

Only Danny Orr has more tries+assists than him in SL and Myler has missed 7 games.

David Hodgeson has more tries than everyone other than Hall so lest stick him on the wing against the aussies then lets put Kirk Dixon inside him. Danny Orr has done alot then, lets start him at 7.
Actually Sinfield and Deacon were the two highest English points scorers and play both of them.
Sounds silly when you just go off stats, its about the whole game, how do we think they will cope with the aussies. Myler would be targeted to easily.

But he will have to create more than he letsin and with Inglis or Hodges lining up against him in the wide chanel he will be exposed in my opinion far more than Tomkins or Brough would.

Agreed but may at least try to make it difficult for them rather than going with Myler who not even slow him down.

Senior would be ideal to get in his face but he is not an option.
I would go with Pryce and Hall.

| All this gelling boll0cks is just that, boll0cks. There's no link play anymore between the halves other than catch and pass. They operate down either side along with the centre and second rower.
The loose forwards and fullback link up more in the line than the halfbacks do in the modern game.

I'd have him at left centre to replace Senior tbh.
He's too good a player for us to leave out imo but i just don't see him as an international standard stand off. I think you have to have abit more of an allround game to play there and McGuire just about has the edge on him.

He could be devastating if he gets a hint of time at the PTB, certainly a potential match winner.
I would like to see Roby step up this year as he is going to lead our pack for years to come. I want him to get us moving forward like he does with saints, the aussies are not perfect in defence up the middle, at some point in the match a couple of props will have to run back into the line and probably not go back the full 10 and this is where we need him big time. His role is so important as he could win pens and make big metres. One of our major problems is territory against the aussies.

| Surley Sam isn't ready to play for England when he's not played enough games for Wigan this year according to some Wigan fans. Just think if it wasn't for Noble then Sam wouldn't be getting his chance for England now, Noble must be a really bad coach.
