Over 7,000 on at Headingley. Pretty sure they weren't getting close to that last time they were in top division.

Was interesting to note the pattern on Sky Sports News during the fake blood story.
Anytime the guest or presenter was talking negative it was rugby. However when they were talking about moving forward, great crowds, a clean, family friendly game it was rugby union.

Did they mention headbutting in the first minute and getting sent off.

Yep. The bloke's 'apology' immediately after the game couldn't have been more concise and well scripted if the media men from thr RFU had done it themselves...

I think they can pull the occasional big crowd (like 10k+ for Newcastle in the past).

Any idea how?
I know the sports faculty at Leeds Met get plenty of free tickets, but that would only account for a fraction of the crowd.
Could be a Sale and Newcastle type scenario, where a rugby union supporters in the area go to support their regional team.

| Thought the Mylers are cousins.
Regards kicks at goal i think the chanting and off putting employed by the fans is something in League that did not happen significantly when i started watching the game, seems to have become common place in the last 15 years, used to be the isolated corner probably the chavs of today now it seems common place throughout all aspects of league fans.
I personally think it is simply a reflection on how standars of society continue to slip.

Its not just the whistling though, the kids used to bang on the advertising signs now adays its common place to see people of all ages abusing the kicker, its getting to the level of watching a crowd in football when a player takes a corner, personally think its a bit sad, especially given the fact it does nothing to put off a kicker.

Don't agree tbh.
The fans have always chanted 'the referee's a w*nker', 'who's the b*stard in the black' and so on. 20 years ago racism was common place, violence wasn't unheard of, my club was one of the worst, but I have experienced the above at most grounds.
Fans have always put off the kickers IMO, and I hate the tradition in RU. All this 'the fans acting gentlemanly' is just nonsense and typical of RU.
For me, RL fans are better behaved than ever, and incidents of trouble and offensiveness are much rarer nowadays.

Richie myler isn't actually a myler if that makes sense. He took the surname as our old winger rob myler is his stepdad. If i'm not mistaken he is actually related to Doug laughton.

Agree. I for one remember a very funny chant in the direction of Jonathan Davies whilst at Wilderspool.
"Davies, you've got a f**king big nose, you've got a f**king big nose, you've got a f**king big nose", to which he started rubbing it and then laughed!

Agreed but not to this level, and at the time most of the older generation frond upon it, seems now these have grown up and shout random garbage at the kicker in an attempt to put him off, while the kids still do it.

| It's always gone on in league and is no worse now than it was 20-30 years ago when I first started to watch the game.
Lets be honest it's not snooker or golf, both games/sports in which silence is usually expected. RL is a team sport played in front of vociferous crowds so why expect silence all of a sudden when the opposition step up to take a kick?
If anything the silence preceding a kick in union is just another example of the holier than thou attitude that most union followers tend to adopt. To be honest I'm surprised you can't hear more people snoring - perhaps they ask someone to wake them up whenever there is a penalty?
I don't bother by the way, but am happy to let the younger generation make a racket.

I remember that chant! I thought it was a bit harsh, TBH. He always seemed a decent bloke.
Davies was a tremendously gifted player (despite Badwanger thinking Wellens was as good as him! ). I would have loved to have seen him in the cherry and white. We had so many legends in that era it is greedy to have wanted another, but he was a superb player and one of the few British players that could have added something to the great Wigan sides of that era.

Spot on. Deceptively strong and always enjoyed watching him turn out for Widnes and Wire.
One of the first players who made me aware that there was another code of rugby.
