Not really, he's an absolute stud. he may be 39 but if somebody told me Menzies was replacing Hoffman at Wigan next season, I wouldn't exactly be disappointed.

One good game against Hull and they think he's Gene Miles, they love jumping on the bandwagons and creating false dawns the Wire lot.

Chase has had an exceptional season and Dureau has been superb for the vast majority. I think both deserve their places ahead of Finch who took time to find his feet after his op but has now started to find top gear.

With a full pre season behind him I think Finch will be nailed on for a dream team place in 2012. He's getting to the point of looking majestic at the minute. His organisational and passing skills are sublime.

I would have Atkins over joel Tomkins or carmont any day of the week! As for false Dawns 21 tries and 12 try assists is hardly shoddy is it. But obviously being a wire fan i'll have the usual uninformed crap thrown back from you lot. Put it this way with only 1 recognised centre in your team you lot would love to have him.

Quality Back line , would love to see that at the DW (Apart from pedigree chum boy) , would have Paddy in or Matt King before him

TBH that is the poorest dream team i've seen in a long while.

Are the standards of Super League slipping massively or have the journos just made the wrong picks?

Tomkins, Chase, Westwood, Lockers, Graham and Roby can match it with the best of them but players like Yeaman and Carvell? Admittedly they've been ok this season but you cant help but compare it to the NRL, they wouldnt even be in with a shout of a dream team.

FWIW (before some knob comes on here all guns blazing) im not saying they shouldnt have been picked; they have a good case just like alot of others, im just suggesting that maybe the standard of Super League is slipping if those are the best we can offer.

I read most boards. Just cause it's a wigan board doesnt mean i have to keep my opinions quiet for fear of being called "another wire obsessive".

To be fair to Carvell, he has been our best prop this year. Like i said before i would have had Finch over Chase and M Monas in for Roby. Think Menzies shouldnt be there either think puletua or hoffman should have been in first. Dont feel it's SL standards that are slipping as i think that for the most part thats a good solid side.

Not one of the players on there would be in with a shout of making the aussie dream team though. I don't think the standard is slipping, but i fear that it has always been and probably always will be well below australia.

As for Carvell, i would ask you how much you have seen of him this year and what other props in the league would you prefer to have been in? Just out of interest.

I am asking you who else you would have liked to see in the team rather than Carvell if you do not feel he is up to the standards of playing the aussies as you pointed out in your first post.

I actually forgot about that git, So let me rephrase that post, I don't think any of those 13 other than Jammer would be able to get into the NRL dreamteam.

Thats my point - there is no-one else at the moment who is. He is the best of a bad bunch. Players like Mossop/T.Burgess etc have potential to be bigger and better but at the moment if Gaz Carvell is the second best we can offer then we are in trouble- he is miles and miles behind the standard of Graham. Same with Yeaman. Props and s were what I struggled with when picking my dream team, there isnt much quality in Super League. Although to be fair with the prop situation we've had players like Morley/Fielden/Perry out for long periods who on form could be in with a good shout.

I think though, had Morley played more games this year(or more importantly recently), then he would have been in there above Gaz.

I agree completely that we are miles behing the NRL, as i said in my first post. I mentioned it a while ago, Sam is a cracking player, but the quality and volume of young fullbacks in Aus really shows how inferior the SL is. They have four potentially great young fullbacks and we have one.

I'm stuck with the Yeaman thing also, think he has been good for hull, but i would much rather see Atkins or Joel line up against the aussies.

Would Menzies have been in the team on this form had he not been such a legend for so many years? Would he have got noticed if he wasn't a 39 year old 'big name'?

Was his form actually better throughout the season than Hoffman, O'Donnell, Manu etc?

I can only remember one game where he really stood out and it was when Catalans played at Bradford.

I can't help but feel he has been put in on just name alone which is a shame really. This year has been a year when we have seen a few players get in who wouldn't usually get noticed.

Carvell has been a good player for years but has lived in the shadow of Morley. Great to see Chase and Dureau get in there as well. Also good to see Yeamon and Briscoe get in because as a partnership they have been quality this year.

In my opinion King has been much better than the dog lover hits year and Hoffman has definantly been better than Menzies throughout the year.

briscoe and yeaman have scored 39 tries between them this season-best centre wing partnership in the league for scoring tries, both deserve their place

always makes me laugh when fans spit their dummies out when their own team players get overlooked by another teams who many think have contributed most this season!
