| Quote ="Leedslee28"Liam Farrell knocks Danny Maguire to the floor even though he had jumped into him before he kicked it so he was committed = Sin Bin
the rules clearly say you can attack the ball or put pressure on the kicker without any contact...farrell jumped so was committed which i agree with you but what you cant understand or dont want to is as soon as he hit maguire without the ball in hand it is a pen......sin bin ??????? you never know now with these refs they are getting that bad'"
Farrell was sin binned not for being committed to the tackle but coz he made NO attempt to block the ball (he had his back to Maguire as he went in). Must admit I did think that Wigan deserved the win today (hard for a wire to say I know!!!) and did think the ref made some bad calls BOTH WAYS (warning O'Laughable for intereference and then doing sod all next time) but in the end Leeds can up with the play when it counted.

Because they beat wigan, they will cup EASILY ?
Not sure i agree with you, i thought leeds looked pretty poor today. I think saints, warrington, bulls will have something to say about leeds EASILY
winning the cup.

| and YES I did think the "warning" was iffy as the leeds player was virtually trying to hold O'Loghlins hand, but once he made it he should have followed through.
GOD HELP US WITH SILVERWOOD TOMORROW THOUGH!

| Have just got back and have yet to see TV replays.
The Delaney incident that everyone is seemingly the one being referred to saw him dumped on his backside, maybe lower back at a push. Certainly not a spear tackle but i knew from that moment what Bentham's agenda was going to be.
Ultimately, 2 points difference between the teams = the same number of points for Sinfield taking a pealty 55 yards from where Farrell supposedly comitted an offence - again, not seen any replay but it seems we get a double penalty with sin bin to boot.
Considering that the ref could/should have gone to his pocket much earlier for Peacock's attempted decapitation and Senior booting a player in the head (irrespective of being intentional or not), it is somewhat mind-boggling that a sin bin is awarded for a lesser offence in Leeds own half.
Like i said, Bentham seemed to bear a grudge and today we got both barrels.

The penalty, once given, was taken for the correct position...ie...where the ball was caught by the team making the offence.

| I'm a Leeds fan but I feel your over reacting a tad. Yes both teams got some calls that maybe shouldn't have but I think they were evened out. Both teams put a bad tackle in (I think Coley could get a ban from it, because in my opinion it was worse than Mounis challenge). Both teams were penalised for been unable to get there arm out of the ball carriers armpit. Both teams were penalised for offences whilst having the ball. The Farrell incident was a tad unlucky but once the ref had penalised for the late shot, then he had to yellow him (The current rulings are to blame). I think you deserved to win but Leeds got the vital play at the end.

Totally agree
I was thinking the same about the 'double penalty' and sin bin, what is Pat supposed to do ? Leave it and hope it goes dead so Leeds have to take the penalty where the offence occurs ?
Pathetic by Bentham.

| The Coley tackle was a cracking tackle, it's just it was that good of a tackle he ended up on his back with his legs in he air, no malice just a well exectuted tackle. Watch the game again Bentham had it in for us, if we would have won I would have said the same thing.

| Pie eater and proud of it - it didn't matter that Richards caught the ball. If he hadn't, the penalty would have been given from the spot the ball landed.
Ref was spot on for that one.
Senior kicking out - he always does, and should have been binned for being careless if nothing else.
Peacock's head high on Tomkins was more accidental than malicious caused by Tomkins footwork.
The sin binning is the result of an edict to refs to sin bin where they consider the player rushing the kicker is late making contact. Bentham had no option.

after the game the bbc interviewed the players and they all said that when going into the contact they had to make sure the ball did not make contact with the tackling player cos it was like a bar of soap,so not to have that confidence in the ball and not being able to play our usual open game we and wigan where always going 2 look poor

| Don't see how we can complain about Farrell's binning, we all know the rules.
It was only 2 weeks ago at the Hudds game that TL was taken twice out and far worse by Mason, Silverwood ignored it on one occasion and gave a pen on the other. He didn't bin Mason for either which the rules clearly state he should have in both instances.
We won at Hudds but it was only Silverwood that kept the Giants in the game.
He warned Lockers for technical infringements, he binned Farrell for foul play but when there is dangerous play from Senior he gives only a pen and no binning.
There does appear to be a trend that away teams are treated more harshly than home teams. Now there's a surprise!

Wigan didn't look poor, though. Except for Coley, who was poor. In fact, he made some significant errors of judgment. As did Sam Tomkins on two occasions. But overall, Wigan looked the better team for about 95% of that match. But they made the fatal error of missing a tackle at the most crucial moment, and that's why Leeds won. It's knock-out rugby and every minute counts. Wigan switched off for a second there and lost it.
Personally, I wanted neither team to win as I don't want either Wigan or Leeds anywhere near the Challenge Cup. However, even I as a Saints fan can see that Wigan dominated that match for most of that match.
I'd very much like to have seen Senior red carded for that kick out at Joel Tomkins' face. It won't happen, but I hope he gets a ban. He certainly should. There is no excuse for kicking out like he did. Thug.

Come on, he made a lot of bad calls but this one was spot on. Legs above the horizontal = penalty, there were no arguments from any of the Wigan fans I watched it with and rightly so.

It can't be often that a reference to the utilitarian school of ethics is made on an RL forum. Not sure how many people would know of Jeremy Bentham though.
The referee did make some bad calls today but those would have been of no significance had we managed to maintain composure and take just one of our chances close to the Leeds line. It was a good effort from our lads but they just came up short in the end.

i use the word poor in the amount of ball given up by both teams....yes for most of the game wigan where the better side and played the weather better but when it counts leeds come up with something that others are not matching at the moment and that is to play the full 80 mins

We matched it. We beat you. Wigan have also matched you, and played for full 80 minutes. However, on this occasion they chose to have a few brainfarts within the final five minutes when brainfarts are least tolerated and that was that. It's the nature of knockout football. But Leeds winning was against the run of play for the previous 75, nontheless.

your talking about two games which have happened this season iam talking on a much bigger picture, yes every dog as it day and you will win games against leeds or any other team in the SL due to this fact but weather its going back on history or living off past glorys leeds have been doing it for 3 years now and even now with our poor form come playoffs you would love to miss leeds due to the fact we can do it on the big stage
