so you expect a club who have prob never brought more than 500 to treble their away following just because it's £9 cheaper? get real.
by your logic, supposing we offer the same discounts at our place and wigan bring 6,000 would that be pathetic also?
plank!

crazy isn't it?
having a big support would be nice, ( ours has improved more than any other SL club last few years ) but having a good team is the way to win trophies.
unfortunately our good team didn't turn up last night

| Lets be honest, if Hudds suddenly got attendances like ours everyone would slate them for glory hunting Their support is increasing gradually, give them a break people. If clubs like Castleford, Wakefield, Crusaders and Harlequins followed suit then RL would be in a much stronger position in Britain.

My post wasnt purely about attendances, I mean growing as a club over-all. Cas are doing well with producing good youngsters but how much are your attendances actually increasing? And as for performances on the pitch there are no real improvements ala Huddersfield YET. FWIW I think Cas will be the next club to take that step forward.

| one of our bigger problems with average crowd figures is that out of all the heartland clubs, we dont have a natural big local rivarly with anyone, ( halifax are our traditional rivals ) therefore we lose out in the big derby clashes which more often than not attract big crowds.
cas are very similar to us as a club, and their crowds are certainly admirable.but again, unlike us, cas are a traditional top flight club with a decent hardcore supporter base to build on.

| I don't see why this thread has turned into an attendance debate. But, as far as i see it, all of us talking on this thread went to the game yesterday. Therefore, we did our bit correctly and actually went to the game, so credit to the huddersfield fans that did. However, calling the people on this thread for not bringing fans is not their fault, you can't execpt them to knock on every house in Huddersfield and force them to buy a ticket. Collectively, as a club, Huddersfield have a problem with support considering they are now trophy contenders, but as i said, the majority of people on these forums attend the majority of the games. End of attendance debate?

it seems to be in effect more at away games, like Saints last week. its harder at home due to everyone being sat in different stands
but the flags across the top of the South Stand are done by the Brigantes, and the flags at the bottom of the South what were being waved. Theres usually at least 5 or 6 up rather than 4 but depends who is available to wave.

by a massive wait for it.... 25 !!!
dont forget our last two games have effectively been 'away' at halifax, last one was v catalans and the next v crusaders also 'away'
you only have to look at saints crowds to see what an effect playing away from your ground does for attendances.
sure we will be higher average than cas by the end of the season, you must of been waiting till we play catalans at home to bring this up!
look how much you have improved your attendances since 2000 and to now......
then check the giants.....
think you will find the giants have improved the average greatly from where we were....cas on the other hand ...oh dear still the same if not less!

| Great crowd for the big one 3.... over 18k home fans, just as good as the previous games really, who cares about away fans? We are the only team who can get these crowds with just home fans. Our crowd was bigger than the Leeds v Bradford game.
Wonder what it will be for the Leeds game, normally one of the best attended games and its following two top results against our rivals and 2nd placed Hudds both infront of an army of Wigan fans and on sky. Would be great to beat last years total of 17,883. Over 18k should be the target.

| I'm not so sure about the attendance for the Leeds game. Are the Leeds fans travelling over in numbers in order to see their team get one over on us? Or are they staying away in fear they will get smashed? I think if we can get at least 16,000 Wigan fans inside the DW for a game that's on TV too, its a good effort.

After getting nearly 18k last time after an away win at Cas and then a home win against Hull, I think we are capable of getting similar or more after beating Saints away and then Hudds at home infront of a huge crowd.

| I think people are missing the point with the home v away attendances for "Big Ones". Increasing away support helps a bit, of course, but it's the increase in home support that is crucial, not just for that one game, but hopefully for future games. The away supporters are only here once a year (in League games), but if just a percentage of the "extra" home support turns up more often, that will have a massive effect.
Sure, Hudds support increased by 700 or so, but home support was up by around 5,000 on last year, and hopefully a good proportion of them will be encouraged to come more often, and maybe even buy a season ticket, or bring more friends along. That has to be the main aim of the "Big One" concept.

That's exactly what Lenagan said at the fans forum. Great if the away support increases but first and foremost it's a marketing tactic to increase home support firstly for that game and secondly hopefully to get an increase in regular attendance. Well part one accomplished by something like 5k, part two will become apparent in the future.
Well done to the marketing team
