I want a Leeds win over Wigan any day of the week but what Ablett did was disgusting and has no place on the field, it's dangerous reckless and potentially career ending. I'm all for a hard tackle (who er misses) and a bit of biff but an elbow to the head at full pace to a guy who has just taken a high ball is deserving of, at the very minimum a 3 game ban.

Defend your players Leeds fans by all means but for me Abletts shot is indefensible.
In hindsight Wigan winning was the fair result considering Ganson was doing his best to keep Leeds in the game

It would take a player to lose their head before they got a proper ban these days

You may want to be careful what you wish for. 2 refs a la NRL clamping down on dirty/cheap shots would no doubt impact heavily on your team as well as most if not every other team in SL.

Reason? I Don't think he intentionally went to smash him with the Forearm/Elbow etc as his arms are next to his Body Not leading with them, I think he just went to shoulder charge him to dislodge ball and he got it wrong at 100mph.
Maguire tried the same thing on Fielden and got it right, Ablett got it wrong.

Wigan fans accept that if one of our players did it we would be looking for every piece of reasoning to justify why it wasn't as Bad as everyones making out (See Andy Coley send off Thread) whilst Leeds fans please see that your doing just that!

On the other Hand Wigan fans don't make it out to be More than it was, If he'd have gone leading with the Elbow/Forearm the yes I would say it was a "Horrible" or "Disgusting" tackle. IMHO I think it was More reckless and over zealous.

It was certainly no "Cassidy" tackle that's for sure!

Same goes for the Joel Tomkins thing the Other day against Wire, Player dove in slightly late (Bearing in mind there was an unusaual delay with Myler not grounding the Ball straight away) and Tomkins went in IMO in an uncontrolled manner.

It's a rough/tough game - I sometimes wonder what some people would make of the game of yesteryear 70's/80's, They'd have had a Firing squad out at the Disciplinary for some of the stuff that used to go on!

I mean that every team tries it on with the cheap shots in every game and its naive or a blinkered view that fails to recognise this. I have no issue with your tackling technique (It is legal after all) or that of Hudds or even that of the Storm in this years WCC.

The poster I quoted was implying that if we had two refs to rule on cheap shots then Leeds would be knackered, i suggest it would impact on all teams equally, i said or implied nothing toward your tackling technique.

I'm glad there are a few decent Leeds fans on this thread because I lived there for years and they were alright on the whole. Just a shame the majority who've been on here recently are illiterate scumbags.

because Lockers challenge wasn't to the head, it wasn't on a fullback, he wasn't offside, Robinson had just passed the ball not just caught it it was marginally late and he was duly warned by the DC. It was totally indefensible from Ablett which is why the majority of fans of other clubs, all the commentary team and every newspaper article I have read have said he should have been sent off and deserves a ban.

Can't believe some of the drivel spouted on this thread (sine die etc). It was a bad challenge, deserved a red card, and will result in a ban of a few games. It's a tough sport, get over it, I'm sure Sam has. Your team is top of the pile & playing well. Enjoy it!

Also, when Ganson is explaining the penalty to Sinfield and Ablett, he says the first offece was offside, so surely the penalty should've been on where he kicked the ball and not where the high tackle was?

Nope - any penalty from a kicking situation is enforced where the ball lands or is caught.
