| Ultimately now the game next week v Saints is a real acid test. Can we maintain the good form we’ve shown tonight? Saints won’t allow us the room or time to exploit them like Salford did tonight. The stats, other than meters gained, are fairly even which backs up how clinical and ruthless we were.
The other point is that tonight was a reasonably dry track. Next week may not be and for whatever reason we tend to be poor on wet pitches.
That was a good, solid win where we played more or less for the full 80mins at a high tempo and relentless pace. Salford couldn’t live with us. That needs to carry over into next week, it’s no good beating Salford then getting leathered by Saints.

| French was just unreal. I still feel we’re a team of individuals rather than a group of individuals making up a team but there was some pure brilliance from French and a few others. I think we saw that there is simply no point in flogging a dead horse with Clubb and Flower. They were ‘ok’ but in Singleton, Bullock and Partington we’ve got a decent 3 and Havard makes it 4. As soon as is possible we need to move Flower/Clubb on and look to find a Liam Watts style prop to compliment the other lads we’re building up.
Tonight was very good but hand on heart I still feel we’re a bit short in terms of winning a Grand Final. Just to compete in a semi final would be a start.

| Yep, we need to be at the very least competitive with Saints next week, something we haven't been close to since the last time we beat them which seems like forever ago.
Shame Havard isn't available, as said above, him, Partington, Bullock and Singleton would be a more than decent rotation.

Amen to that! Singleton looked impressive again, and Bullock and Partington did well. If French does return to the NRL, (but I still wonder of Parramatta either want or need him?), his stay at Wigan has done his career a power of good. He is so much improved from his first arrival, more confident in defence both under the high ball and in his positional play, and that confidence has obviously fed through to his attack, which was sensational tonight.

| Some really entertaining rugby to distract from a particularly low evening for me during this pandemic. Bevan has X factor written all over him - on a dry track with space he's scintillating. Good to see our forward pack really dominate for a change - having bigger, more experienced forwards in there was refreshing.
The opposition were poor and ultimately Lam will be judged by our play off performance but great to watch the team show what they can do.

I doubt he will play FB there with Gutho.

| The French performance was ridiculous.
Attack defence and link.
Furious when Burgess dropped the chip kick. What a try that would have been.
I remember the insane purple patch Amos Roberts had for 10 weeks pre the injury that pretty much finished him off colliding with the post.
French tonight was on that level.

They are saying Gutho to centre given Jennings is going to be banned.
Interesting to see them linked with Roberts in the last few days though.
That will maybe work in our favour, yes I’m clutching at straws!
If they do sign Roberts though I don’t think they will also sign French.

| It was encouraging to hear Lammy say we’re not giving up on keeping him. It sounded like we still think there’s a chance and I really hope there is. He is sublime and as Wigan fans we’ve not had enough opportunities to watch him in the flesh. I know it’s ridiculous but I can’t help wonder if we could come to some sort of arrangement that allows him to have a few weeks at home mid season. That feels ridiculous typing it but if there are ways if facilitating him staying, we’d be daft not to look at them.

For me the signing of Field in reality confirms he is gone, despite my comment above about the Parramatta move.
Field won’t be on peanuts given Leeds were in for him too and I just don’t see him coming here as a 6.
I hope I’m wrong.

I agree he’s probably going. It feels like there’s a 5-10% chance of him staying but every so often those sort of chances come in. I think we just need to presume he’s going and work on anything else being a bonus.
What amazes me with French is that he’s struggled to hold a spot in the NRL. It’s a crazy league the NRL. There is so much quality in it but there’s also a number of players who seem to have stolen a living and then a number of players like French who seem to just get left out in the cold when they’re freakish athletes.

It was outrageous. He scored a similar one against Catalans at home last season in one of his first games for us but it wasn’t as far out. He broke the line and had two defenders in front of him, one thinks he’s going on the outside, the other thinks he’ll come inside and he just shuffles his feet and walks In-between the pair of them.
He’ll leave a legacy behind now whatever happens.

The past 10 or 11 CC losing finalists have won their next game. It was mentioned during commentary.
So not really par for the course.

| I appreciate I sound like a broken record but what better opportunity for Greenwood to shine tonight? Especially given how dominant we were when he came on.
Every time he got the ball in his hands he looked to be going in slow motion.
He looks to be carrying too much weight and in my opinion again offered next to nothing.

| I've said before that I'd much rather have French than Field. I remember French playing for Parramatta and he didn't do too much wrong, just that they had an exceptional talent in Gutherson; I can't believe the talk that they'd waste him (Gutherson) at centre. Would love to see French stay. Two covering defenders, leave them grasping at thin air and dot it down under the posts; that's Shaun Johnson stuff. Wonderful to watch.

Did nothing wrong jonh
Hes been pretty good since the restart
Isa had thebquitest game I think I've ver seen him have, but that doesnt mean I'd come on here and have a go after a 50point win

I saw the OP and just scrolled on. It's selective praise/criticism with some - neither Greenwood or Isa did much right or wrong.
Speaking of other guys who get no knocked...
I thought Burgess and Bibby both played well. Burgess showed some good pace to get past Watkins and slip the ball back to Faz for his 1st. Thought he showed plenty of enthusiasm in defence too. Bibby also put a shift in and was almost Davies or Sarge like with his first hit up carries. Great break for French's first try too.
I know others disagree, but I'm struggling to think of any club who could call on quality like that for their 3rd and 4th choice winger options.

| Burgess has shown signs of getting back to his best this season. His pace looks to be back and he’s building his confidence up.
I could see him absolutely smashing it under Watson next season.

I’m going to come in with an unpopular opinion here. But I don’t think French is good enough for NRL. He isn’t particularly skilful in terms of passing/kicking. He’s very fast and has a great step, but he isn’t the biggest/strongest and defences are generally better in the NRL than Super League.
I think he’s at his level right now if I’m honest. I see him as someone like a Amos Roberts or George Carmont who were never top NRL players, but were excellent in Super League.

Completely agree with this . Also don’t think he would shine in a tight playoff game / final . Hope I’m proven wrong.
