get rid of Mcillorum, not the standard we need, he just another Godwin in disguise and as for world cup winner he will never be a hooker as long as i have a hole in my ar5e

this the problem though, do we sign Ainscough on for another 3 year then loan him out for 2 year because the wingers we already have are to good, just in case one gets injured?

I'd have no problem with Wigan doing something similar to what Saints have done with Scott Moore and keep signing Ainscough up to new deals whilst loaning him out to other teams until we have a place to fit him in here.
He's too good a player to not play first team but he isn't as good as Roberts or Richards. He'll eventually be a fine replacement for one of them though and we need to make sure he's still here when that place does become available.

| I'm a really big fan of Ainscough and would have him in the Wigan team even if it meant a bit of a re-jig but I suppose Cas is the next best thing. This quote gave me a lot of hope as I was starting to think he'd give up on us:
Quote ="Michael Maguire"He's a Wigan boy, and a big part of our future plans.....He's really putting pressure on the players in the team, with the way he has been representing himself at Castleford, and it's something that is continually assessed.'"

It's nice to keep hearing from Maguire that Ainscough is in his plans. He's too good a player not to be considered a good long term bet for us here at Wigan. Alot of people concentrate on his flaws too much imo. He has a couple of things he needs to work on but as a finisher he's electric and a natural. He has ability you just can't coach and hopefully Maguire can work with him in the long term to help him brush up on the things he needs to.
These loan spells will only help him also. We have no place for him here at the moment and there is no need to do any sort of re-jig because the side is playing so well but that may be something we need to look at further down the track.

Is that the one you talk out of?
So you'd rather play a winger with known areas of his defence to work on at hooker ahead of a specialist one and one who won the world cup?

the one that won the world cup only played there as their real hooker was unavailable iirc, Tommy is a 7 and nothing else, if he had had to scrum down in the 2nd row when they won, would he be world cup winning a second rower

Because he's obviously a better hooker than he his winger.

where have i suggested that Ainscogh could play there ahead of those mentioned above?, all i originally asked was could he turned into a scooting hooker, then stated that MM isn't Wigan Standard and that Tommy is not a hoooker

| McIlorum is a fine young player. His career has been held back by injuries but i'm really expecting to see him kick on under Maguire. His game suits the style Maguire wants us to play to a tee. He's tough as nails and is ultra competative.
If Maguire can work to sharpen up his distribution he could be our first choice number 9 in time.

Why does it matter where Tommy use not to play - he's a more effective 9 than 7 now for me. Players move positions all the time through their careers - some of our greats have done - Hanley, Edwards, Faz.
The reason you asked why not a hooker was that he was blocked on the wing by Roberts and Richard, so why would it be any different? In fact it would be considerably worst given we've two specialist hookers and a world cup winner there.
It looks like poor trolling on the Whinos board is the highest you should aim for.

| I think Ainscough will take the place of Pat Richards at the end of 2011 - I can see him leaving to take up a new challenge, he won't be short of offers.
That would probably be the limit of the amount of time we could keep Ainscough on our books before he would demand a permanent move elsewhere.

| As already stated Saints have continually loaned out Scott Moore until they needed him, and he improved at Huddersfield more than he would have done as a bit part player at Saints this is what is being done with Ainscough.
I think that McIlorum is better than Godwin, though thought it was a bit harsh when we got rid of him, and can see him becoming our No 1 9 once Riddell goes.

lol was joking, don't want to Ainscough either, was just wondering of he could be made into a scooting hooker due to explosive speed and footwork, some other users get a wee bit too excited now and then though

Funny about the tracksuit dilemma though!

| Best thing about the continuing loan of players like Ainscough is that they then can't play against us, as parent club. This gives us a huge advantage as it disrupts the other team when they come to play against Wigan and yet strengthens the Cas team when they play against our rivals!!!
Job done!!!
