I think you missed Deacon's organisation and kicking game. Plus your bench seemed a bit light on "impact" to me, would Feka or Bailey have been a better option on the bench? Not sure if they're injured or left out but there was a very noticeable dip in Wigan's go forward and steel in defence when Coley and Fielden went off.

Joel Tomkins was awesome in defence for me, and that's the reason he gives away so many penalties becuse he's involved a lot more, but he made an absolute tit of himself, he needs to sort it out big time.
Micky Macs attack wasn't up to it, i can't see us winning at old trafford even if we manage to get there, we'll be burnt out.

I'd have thought this sort of game was made for feka, the leeds pack missing JJB, luke burgess and peacock, all big men and big loss.

I think feka would have done some damage against a weak pack tonight.

Joel Tomkins is great player for Wigan and has bags of potential. If he tones down his aggression just a touch he'll be awesome for years to come in my opinion.

Seriously though, I do fancy our chances though on the other hand we could also get tonked.

Is Deacon going to be fit?

Unlikely.

Turning point for me was the injury to Deacon. Without a back on the bench, we were left with few options here.

We could've moved Joel into the centres and either Pat to FB, Sam to 5/8 or Glees to 5/8. This would have potentially left us defensively vulnerable in the 3/4's against a very good Leeds back line.

The other option was to move Lockers to 6 and bring on another back rower. I still think that this, given the players we had on the field, was the best option, however where it did hurt us is that we lost the link play that Lockers has been doing so well to the outside backs. After Deacs went off we lost a bit of the width we were playing with (and of course the kicking game was affected to)

At the end of the day the day though, hindsight is a wonderful thing. What Sunday demonstrated is a mentality that you have to have in play off footy. Finishing top gives us the advantage of having a bit of a learning curve here. We'll come back from that game a better team imho.
