| Quote ="DaveO"It wouldn't be a disaster because he will have fulfilled his contract and given us value for money. It would be a shame if he left as I am sure he will have plenty left in the tank and I'd like to think we would try and retain his services. Not sure what H has got to do with the Tomkins situation though.
He has done nothing new at all here. Ever since the contract system came in we have given players long contracts and others not so long. We have plenty of players currently on short contracts such as Taylor and Burke. Why aren't these and others on five year deals if his contracts are designed in the way you say?
Sants enjoyed the services of Graham and Eastmond for the duration of their contracts. I am pretty sure Graham was on a long contract anyway and Saints simply chose not to sell him early and cash in.
This is only to be expected. It's his job.
I don't see why you link how he's handled the Sam situation (poorly) to what he said when he first bought the club except to deflect criticism. It's not black and white that he is all good or all evil. He gets some things right and some things wrong. He's handled the Sam situation badly but that doesn't mean the new CP is a poor idea, nor does the new CP mean we should dismiss how he's handled the Sam situation.
Sorry but the fact other players leave has got nothing to do with the circumstances Sam left under. All good things come to and end and I have been sad to see many a player leave but this is not the normal situation where a player leaves to retire.'"

You do realise you are sticking up for someone who is too tight fisted to pay to watch NRL, on top of that he's the greatest judge of NRL players.

I do think Bowen is a good player have not seen much of him over the last year but i know he is a very good full back. Its not just that Tomkins is a step up from Bowen.
We are losing or have lost real quality and not replaced it with anything approaching the same. Mossop, Carmont, Richards, Finch, Lima, Gleeson. Every season since 2010 i feel we are getting worse rather than better. Only thing that keeps us challenging is that SL is awful atm.

No you can approach me but don't get too close. You'll be able to spot me in my Bowen 1 shirt.

| I've had chance to read various press releases and sift through the statements.
The whole thing is a farce.
I would urge everyone to take a step back from whatever preconceptions they have around IL, ST, the state of RL in England etc just look at the evidence, statements and join the dots.
I won't be posting any more on the subject.

Grow up. This tactic is boring. I remember the time I highlighted one of your spelling errors after your superior attitude and you complained to the Mods.
You clearly lack judgement of the game given a history of comments that have been proven wrong. I have no doubt you will play the victim, but seriously grow a set, put your hand up when you are wrong, and start acting like a man rather than a jumped up keyboard want to be superior.

| Some people are living in a total fantasy world. Market forces dictate trade. Super League at the moment is a weak market compared to other competing markets.
It's all well and good quoting great overseas players from the past we have signed but it simply is not a realistic proposition at the moment, because of the open market.
We have signed so far 2 NRL based players, 1 who will be a very strong powerful dynamic back row forward and 1 world class player, who has been playing some of the best rugby of his career this season.
Look at the good Dr. over at Salford, I have seen comments on here about him and his recruitment plans etc and despite being linked with some world class names they hold a press conference to announce a load of OAP's from SL and a few NRL lads of a similar pedigree or lower than Eddie Petteybourn.
Growth from within is the way to succeed in times like this, market and both the coach and IFL are doing a great job in relation to that.
To be a top player you do not have to have an Antipodean accent. Saw a post lamenting the loss of Lima, and how he had not been replaced. Jesus as good as he was in his first year, he was gash in his second year generally, give me Scott Taylor any day, who did replace him.
The more you moan and complain an out being "short changed" or quote such things as ""IFL is mugging the fans off" or words to that effect the more moronic you look.
We as a club, are trading in a weak market, we are dealing with that the best way we can.
If you want to see a team littered with established World Class players at the height if their powers, put your hand in your pocket and get Premier Sport, then also an added advantage will be you will actually know something about the overseas players we have recruited rather than form an opinion on them based on zero evidence, or even better do yourself a favour get down to the Academy Final tomorrow if you want to see our future marquee players in action. Players that IFL is investing in and nurturing through the system to ensure we as a club are prepared for all trade conditions, now and in the future.

| Personally I'm sad he is banned, and sad he and others have this irrational disdain for the present management. Nothing is perfect, and i would doubt that a single poster on this board is happy about the Sam situation. It's also sad that if you don't wander around with flaming torches and pitchforks, you are regarded as a "Happy Clapper", I don't find it insulting, I'm happy i can see both sides, a point some seem to miss. If they really want to moan and be happy, I'm sure they would be welcomed at MANY other clubs in SL who have genuine reasons to moan.
BTW, we are the current Challenge Cup holders, and 80 mins from Old Trafford.. Who would not have taken that at the start of the season... as for Sam, the king is dead, long live the king, move on.
