| Tonight is a big game, it has an air of anticipation and excitement that i have not had for a Wigan game in some time. The recent capture of Gleeson have pointed towards confidence and hope for the future, and while i do not demand or even expect a win, a good solid performance with effort and heart is a must. Anything less and i will be back to square 1 and the first post of this thread all over again.

I understand what the RFL mean by federation trained and homegrown. Your ill informed comments about homegrown and the quota show that you are clueless. Getting your knickers in a twist over the defintions re Hudson and Raleigh shows you are out of your depth. Why not spend a little time checking the facts rather than spouting prejudices.
You may not like my views but to specifically name a couple of young guys - giving their best - and denigrate them is really cheap.
I may find your ignorance on RFL categories of players laughable. I would not dream of naming some youngsters at Wigan or Wakey and insulting them to make a point.
Shame on you jonh.'" '"

If you look at how this all started it was a Huddersfield supporter claiming that it was Wigan's fault for not producing enough Home grown players that was responsible for England's/GB's failure at test level over the last few years!
We put him in his place with regards to the FACT that we produce probalby 10 x times more home grown players than Hudds ever have and the argument then moved on!
Go back a few pages and have a look at what started this and I think you will find out that we were spot on in our initial responses and it was the Hudds fans that Moved the goal posts so to speak!

Slow down speedy. I hold my hand up and say i got that wording wrong, fair play no problem. But you are claiming Ralleigh is a "home grown" player when clearly he is not, he joined the club as a 24 year old, i would know as i spent much of my time at university playing with and against him.
The point regards Hudson is you or your friend can claim him to be home grown, but the point is he plays for Castleford.
Given the fact sometime almost 5 years since i stopped playing the sport i had to pull on a Giants shirt last year to play in a reserve fixture it shows just how inadequate the system was at the club......something that i am glad to say is changing.'" '"
Clueless on Hudson. Clueless that Raleigh was in our academy.Clueless on RFL rules - the suggestion that the homegrown rules were created to deal with quota issues was monumentally daft
But taking cheap shots at named young players is pitiful.

As for the homegrown rules being created to deal with quota issues ie the number of foreign players in our game which is a pretty big issue if not the biggest, see below, it is exaclty the reason it was introduced.

Kids! Get a grip they are pro sportsmen just like other players there age. Many young Wigan players are run down by opposition and even our own fans, why are other clubs players exempt for expressing an opinion on.
A few clubs have done it who have had poor records at producing young players Hudds are not alone in this, the rules that were brought in forced some clubs to promote lads who were not ready to full time contracts simply because they came through the ranks of there respective clubs.

Fed trained deals with quota. Only an imbecile would think that a 'homegrown catagory' can address such issues

Just because they are young sportsmen does not mean you have to be cheap and squalid. That has been your choice. Just because other people make cheap and infantile comments about Wigan players does not mean you have to do likewise. A mature person would understand that it is not necessary.
You could make points without cheap references to players. You either lack the intelligence or integrity to do so. Trying to defend a cheap shot does you no credit.

Mate the 2 go hand in hand, increasing the home grown talent ensures that clubs should not have to rely on non federation trained players, the 2 exist together and have everything to do with reducing the number of overseas players in our game.
In the face of the evidence only an imbecile would claim that the home grown rule has nothing to do with ending our reliance on overseas players, when the entire point of it is to promote young players and invest in them which some clubs including Huddersfield have not done up untill the rules have made it so.
Is it any suprise that several new positons were created at Huddersfield with the conception of this rule, or is it just a coincidence?
edit: on the plus side you have just promoted Adam Walker a lad who will bring something to the table which will see one of the players i mentioned earlier leave the club in the not too distant future they certainly will not be there in 2010, pretty much proving the point.

You really must stop relying on dubious articles for your information. Otherwise you will keep getting it wrong and kidding yourself that you 'are in the know' Your confusion of 'reliance on overseas players' with quota and presumably european employment law is par for the course.
As I said, and you slowly grasp, the homegrown rule is about encouraging clubs to develop more players (not a quota issue).
Your final point once again declares your ignorance re the Giants and RFL sky funding. No surprise there. All SL clubs must have certain appointments/ roles fulfilled to get all their sky money. With a new head of YD you also expect some changes in personnel. So its not a coincidence. Just not down to the fictions you create.

So what was Pete Riding brought to the club for, and then Damien McGragh, and then Karl Harrison? These people were brought to the club as the Giants realised they has to stop rellying on other clubs and had to get to work on developing there own players for a change.
Lets continue this via pm as it has nothing to do with the Wigan thread, but i can assure you i am far from ignorant of Huddersfield Giants.

Your assurances count for nothing given the ill informed statements.
Riding was appointed as PPM when Cooper became ft conditioner. The RFL insist that all clubs have a PPM - so that would explain that appointmet
RFL insist that all SL clubs have a head of Youth Development. Take a look around and see them getting appointed So the Giants have got one - a very good one. These YD guys wil make changes in personnel. If they have good contacts they will bring in good people like KH.
No this need not be a giants thing. Your knowledge is limited on that subject. Stick to Wigan and wakey.
I pointed out that homegrown definitions are nothing to do with quota and then said I found your need to name a slag off players was cheap. Exchanging pms with you would bore me.

The appointment af all these people that I named coincided with the change in the rules as i said it was born out of necesity and shows that the Giants were not concerned or interested in investing significantly in youth prior to the rules forcing them to do so, so thanks for highlighting that.
Il end on this one then, if there is no link between the federation trained rule and the overseas players influence on the game, regardless of what Richard Lewis has stated in the article which you simply dismiss, why is there a direct correlation between rules implimenting a reduction in the overseas players and increasing the home grown players, another coincidence.

If ya wanna roll back a few pages you'll find that it's a Wigoon fan who started all this off by saying Wigoon have a right to be in the top 4, as they are a big club and teams like Huddersfield, Wakey and Cas do not deserve to win at the JJB.
They then went on to slag off Brown, Robinson and Hodgson, sorry but not happy just to let that lie!!!

| Quote ="andyed-wiganrl"Maybe they are, but in every other set up of the club we are clearly at top 4 if not 2 club. I do not expect a reincarnation of the 80s and 90s, tbh they were almost 'freak' like times and that dominance will not be seen again in world sport never mind RL IMO.
I dont expect to be winning everything, but as a top club i expect to be in as many finals as teams like saints and leeds and actually win something or at least get to a final at least every 2-3 years!! You may think im arrogent for saying this but wigan rl is one of the biggest names and teams in world rugby.....we should not be beat at home by castleford, wakey and huddersfield over a period of 5 years....never mind in 3 our of 4 home games!!
Suppose its a mixed result of poor coaching and the communist cap, which as said many times on here before, drags the game down to the level of those that cba!! Yeah sure....super league is getting better!!
