The game was marketed well throughout and made to sound a better game than it actually was. a little but disappointed to be honest. Saints were terrible and made wire look alot better than they actually were tonight. poor from both teams, and just because both teams cannot defend and let in plenty of points doesnt make it a great specticle.'"
My sentiments exactly. A poor defensive showing from both sides.
Deano G, if you keep saying we are weak psychologically, will it come true?

Yeah, we're so boring that we get crowds almost every week that wouldn't fit into your ground, oh and we're reigning champions. Maybe that should be a new song; "we're only here 'cos it's boring, here 'cos it's boring".

You [ican[/i be boring and successful, you know. I don't think anyone is suggesting they are mutually exclusive. Some of us just like our rugby entertaining, and games between Saints and Wire have been entertaining for a long time due to playing a similar style of open rugby.

Winning is never boring.
If we beat you 1-0 at your place in the cup i'll be made up and far from bored. The rugby that Wire have played this year has been very entertaining and your a brilliant side but if you don't win anything on the back of it i'm sure you'd all swap it for a scrappy Grand Final win.
As for Saints entertaining rugby I didn't see much of that last week. I suppose it's our fault for defending too well and not letting them play? If they're that good and entertaining it wouldn't matter how good our defence was.
At the end of the day teams play to different tactics and with different styles and theres no right or wrong way to earn success. If you can do it by racking up cricket scores every week then great but the bottom line at the end of the day will be the trophies and you'll always be remembered for those more so then the style you adopted to win them.

Oh I know, but thanks for the heads up. You'll have enjoyed the grand final last year then? Sometimes good, strong defence is equally as good to watch as long risky passes and running plays. Wigan showed last year that a cruel defence can go a long way to winning the league, and I found it bloody entertaining!

| wigan had the perfect blend last year, they sucked the life out of teams in defence and then tore them apart in attack. For me gleesons try in the grand final was one of the best I have seen in a grand final, we played expansive rugby all through last season as was shown by us scoring most points in the league.

Spot on. We scored 8 tries v Hudds, they scored 2 tonight. The tries we scored were far from boring to watch. What planet are some people on?
Here' is a theory. We can't break the cap because its live so with that not an option we have to be boring.

To say that was boring is a bit daft, there was a 10 minute spell (first 10 of the 2nd half) in which it was just 5 drives and a kick rugby and that's it.

| Great Thread Gents - comical, deluded among many other things.
The OP seems to have vanished though, is he ok?
In all seriousness, it was a great game especially for the conditions, and Saints played far better than they did last week. Warrington should have put the game away before HT, but it was a test to muster up another big effort in the 2nd Half, and a test which many former Wire sides would have failed.
As for the high shots - I've watched the game over, and overall it was a very technical game. Both sides making alot of head contact, plenty of 'facials' on the floor, and Holding Down (Saints). But I'd put that down generally to the conditions and it being a heated game.
Yes it was a great night, but the League Table will be decided over the coming weeks/months, and most probably at the HJ when you roll into town.
Best of Luck for the rest of the season, and see you on the 23rd July.

We will have to wait and see.
I'm just glad that there aren't any Wigan fans now who are buying into the Wire hype machine.
Yes Wire are a very good side and although you were less than superb on Friday night you are the main threat to Wigan but after the last couple of weeks I think the mood amongst Wigan fans about the QF has changed massively. Many were pessismistic about our chances. Now I think everyone believes that we can win and people are looking forward to it. And why not? Our pack is looking very, very strong and in the backs Tomkins, Richards, Carmont and Finch are playing very, very well. Tomkins is simply sensational at the moment. (If he keeps this up and doesn't win MoS it will be even worse than the Roby/Barrett fiasco.) I'm sure Madge will be happy if Wire start slight favourites (which with home advantage they should do), but it will be interesting to see how the bookies price this one...

for me it will probably be off scratch. The only problem we seem to have when we play wire is that we cannot get on top of your pack. I said when the draw was made, with the packs potentially out there on the day I can't see that being the case, and aint you lot been playing king in the forwards when joel m is fit?
wigan could line up with a pack of fielden, leuluai, mossop, hoffman, hansen,o'loughlin with lima,prescott,hock,mcillorum/coley on the bench.
this could be the match of ages.

Won't go off scratch unless we hit bad form or injuries.
We are favs 5/2 & 9/4 and you are 7/2 & 10/3 to go off scratch we would have to be joint favs or very close.

Just had a Warrington fan of mine comment that "once a game is done I get bored" mainly, when the team is scoring points and beating someone, he gets bored of the game, so is that a minority view or are other fans bored of them scoring points by the bucketload?

I wouldn't say bored is the right word it just becomes a 'wind the opposition up' fest and laugh and joke at all the mistakes. Tight games are what makes it special though that's why the 2 teams i enjoy playing the most are Saints and Wigan usually tight high quality games.

So which game was more entertaining; the Good Friday match where both teams played decent qualty rugby league both in attack and defence or the sub standard rubbish that was served up at the Halliwell Jones that only those English numpties Eddie and Stevo (along with the more ill informed English rugby league fans) could rave about as some kind of 'benchmark'. The Aussie press would have dismissed it as no more than a 2nd rate 'amateur hour' where neither team was good enough defensively to stop points being walked in like they had gone out of fashion. The fact that the English cream themselves at this type of nonsense is exactly the reason we can't compete at International level. Entertaining? Yes, but only in the same way as reality tv is seen as 'more entertaining' than actual quality programming. Sad really, but no surprise.

No I don't get bored. I enjoy seeing us score tries for fun. Especially after the past few years, bar last year. I enjoyed yesterday, as one sided as it was.
I enjoy the close games don't get me wrong, Saints on Good Friday was immense, but I'm just glad we have the ability to put points on teams, whether its deserved or not deserved.

I enjoy either or as long as it's an entertaining game it can be a bit boring when its totally one sided like the win againest swinton, it's nice to see records being broken but not good for the opposition
