He was commentating at a Wigan game as the salary cap came in, and said it was good because "We have to find a way to stop this lot", and looked over his shoulder at Wigan.

I was more saddened by the fact that this was on Sky Sports News. I can understand rugby league people having certain bias but that was just cheap last night. I'd be appalled if I was within the club.

| It certainly irked me.
Did anyone else hear them rhyming off how many injuries Wire had? The fact we had three starting backs + McIlorum out wasn't even mentioned

| This was always going to happen though. As soon as Flower got into even a minor scuffle the media were going to pick up on it following the incident in last years Grand Final. He didn't really need to get involve and did go in with a clenched fist. But it was nothing really.
As I say, when the incident in last years final happened, then both Flower and Wigan would be subject to greater media scrutiny, and that's something that has to be accepted.
The real talking point was the Ashton Sims stamp, which was vindictive and cowardly and should result in a big ban.

Mossop's hand recoiled from the pain, definitely caught his hand with the stamp.

| If sky want to highlight incidents they should show the Pomeroy tackle, one of the worst tackles I've seen. He could have broken the Cas players neck.
Also look at the Leigh game and the blatant con job by Lee Smith, diving to the ground holding his head most people would be embarrassed to look back at the VT of that incident, Smith will probably do it again.

Haha cracked me up that. He reeled off a list of fringe players, including the likes of Patton and O'Brian who aren't in because they've brought Sandow in. We had 5 out who would be in our first choice 17 (Burgess, Sarg, Gelling, McIlorum and Tautai) including 3 England internationals, plus we had a kid on debut!
With regards to the Flower incident there was absolutely nothing in it and it's a joke that he's had to come out and explain what he was doing. I went to the on rugby league section of the on demand bit on the sky box the other day and last year's GF is still there with the picture of Flower over Hohaia!

| Beyond a joke by a long way now, other players have done far worse things than Ben did last year and got away with it and ok what he did do was stupid but he has paid the price and it's time to move on. Oscar Pistorius gets a better press than Ben Flower
The general commentary from Stevo in particular was painful on Friday so a short time into the recording I just turned the sound off as his opinions on the rules just got very boring very quickly. When do they both retire? Although we'll then probably have to endure Carney

The level of delusion in Wigan over Danny McGuire never ceases to amaze. Perhaps the most generous in the league with his charity work off field and one of the most respected professionals on it from players of all clubs. To line him up with Flower, Hardaker, Chase etc is embarrassing
On topic, Flower committed the lost notorious British RL foul of the Super League era, taking the honour from Mick Cassidy. The sport has been remarkable in the support it has given him but you, and he, cannot expect him to be able to fly under the radar of the wider sports media in the same way as other players.

He was 6 inches away, if he was trying to punch Westwood he wouldn't have missed!

As I am on the road at the moment and can only get information now and then I am shocked to find out that Ben Flower did not in fact run amok, in an old persons home, with an axe but instead did something that, in a rugby match, might have been worth a penalty. How could all those using this site have misinformed me so badly. I can only assume that some huge conspiracy is afoot.

| Sky harp back to old news on Flower shocker! If Eddie and Stevo didn't talk cliched B0110x, there would be a lot of dead air time in Skys RL coverage. Flower did what he did and has paid the price, he cost Wigan the GF and there will always be some references to that moment of madness, (and not just on Sky, if you doubt this type his name into google and see what comes up) they will doubtless reduce as time passes. Irate threads like this do him and the Wigan club no favours IMO. This may sound a bit strange coming from a Rhino, but I was glad to see him get "involved" in the little spat last week. From what I've seen he has lacked a little in edge and aggression since he came back from suspension. Whilst in no way condoning his thuggery in the GF, I do want to see him back as an effective forward.

Remember the old days, on Test match Special, when they could fill hours of rain interrupted cricket with nothing more than listeners cakes and sexual inuendo.

Yeah, but in defence of the Test Match Special guys, they were witty and had Days to cover, in which nothing happened for large chunks especially if it rained. The muppet twins can't claim wit as a skill set and they only have to fill 2 hrs, 80 minutes of which is pretty much non-stop action.
