No chance of spirits being dampened, I'm actually looking forward to the WC more than I am the playoffs. Agree fully about the fuss over the CC final, I suspect one reason is that a lot of the neutrals thought that the two teams would be more evenly matched than it turned out. Many other CC finals have disappointed over the years - then again, as a Leeds fan I would say that

It may not have been the best final ever but it was more entertaining than that game last night between two of the top football clubs (Man U v Chelsea)

Quite right Rogues I watched it too and it wasn’t much of a spectacle was it, but if we wait a bit I’m sure someone will point out it was all Wigan’s fault! Still I doubt the papers will say that last night will mark the end of football in this country. (And I don’t think it was even raining)

Who cares how we played, we won, there is a trophy in the cabinet, there is now the honour of winning the trophy 19 times and that is all that counts no one will give 2 hoots about the performance in a few years nor will they care about the stats e,g missed tackles etc all that matters is the WIGAN Name is again engraved on that trophy base

It was one for the purists amongst us. If we had won 60 - nil and scored 10 length of the field tries then the neutrals would still have been calling it crap.

A few years ago when it became obvious that the Wigan club was rising again one of the most enjoyable things was watching the panic, fear and hatred that this caused amongst fans at other clubs.

As we now have a decent chance of the double, with SW clearly trying to spell and protect our key players (if Lockers and Tomkins - the best two players in the league - are fit in the play offs then don't believe the doom-mongers, we can beat anyone) the attempts of the Wigan haters are taking on a more and more desperate air.

Of all the 19 finals you've won, of the ones you can remember ( all of them Rouges) or have seen on tape, which was the worst game?
Including the ones lost if you're looking at the spectacle rather than the result.

Sheffield 98 we were poor but in my first ever Wembley final (1984) we were woeful. Widnes took us to the cleaners that day.

Saints in 1989 were worse than Hull were on Saturday.

And were it not for the Mike Gregory try I'd say the Wigan-Wire 1990 final saved you from an even worse hammering!

16-0 pales in comparison, Hull (albeit poor) were still in the game with 7 minutes to go. Neither of the two above were.

Castleford in 1970 was a poor game, pitch was in awful condition and the ref 'bottled' what should have been the first sending off in a Wembley final.

Just watched the first 15 mins of the Catalans V Warrington game and its an utter disgrace, 15 mins of non stop knock ons, more in those 15 mins than the whole of the CC final.....

RLFans made-up fact of the day; well done.

Second half was an embarrassing knockonathon. Made the CC final look like State Of Origin... And that fact isn't made up...

But you won't get anyone defending it being a great match, it wasn't, great result terrible match but given the choice of the two our match was infinitely better than the CCF

I seem to hear the word 'disgrace' in relation to rugby nearly every week. Anyone else use 'disgrace' as a catchphrase?
