| Quote ="Itchy Arsenal"I compared him to Williams and they are poles apart. Sneyd can kick off a tee but that's about it.
Your defence in the first half was spot on and eventually got you the two points.
Kelly looks a lot fitter than he was and has given you that bit of spark that will make the difference when your involved in a tight game.
I'm a massive Houghton fan and he undoubtedly was a major miss for you.
The return game should be a belter.'"
Not a fair comparison, Williams is the best player in SL and would stand out in the NRL, Sneyd has more to his game than kicking as he has shown this season, still needs to improve in areas though.
Nice words from you and your fellow fans, no doubt along with Cas, the best sides in the league.

We will struggle in the next few games and I wouldn't be surprised if we lost our next 3 games unless we get some bodies back. A good chance for you guys to open up a gap in the table.
I think top 4 in no order will be Cas Hull Saints and us with maybe Leeds jostling out Saints.
I've haven't really rated Griffin much before but he looked half decent tonight albeit he was breathing through his arris in the second half.

| Quote ="apollosghost"Went from possible Wakefieldesque debacle 2 mins into the 2nd half to gutted we didn't snatch it.
You have to give credit to Hull though, outstanding in attack in the first 40 mins and great scrambling defence in the end to save the game.
Really enjoyed that, great entertainment.'"
I also thought we were on for a Wakefield and the problem was the team was just watching Hull play, stepping back and falling off tackles. They panicked. Add to an attack devoid of ideas (until about the last 12 minutes) and there looked there was nothing for us in that game. I felt the two disallowed tries were harsh. The touch judge was nowhere near the first one but the ref asked him about it and it looked grounded to me before he went out of play.
As someone else said we improved when Gells went off. He was not having a good game. I always think games like where things are going badly are not where he plays well. He tries to rescue it single handed and makes mistakes as a result.

I'm a bit more optimistic: I fully expect to lose both Cas games now, unless we get a lot back for the away game, end of April, but I still fancy us in all the others. Leeds are very beatable, even if we had tonight's lineup, as are Saints, and Wakey and Catalans should be no trouble unless we pick up yet more injuries.

| We got torn apart down Gelling's flank all 1st half. Forsyth was superb on the other side though, really assured performance from him. Saw him spew up after about 15 mins and thought he may have to go off but fair play he really got stuck in.
Big step forward for him tonight and along with Joel worthy of great praise.

Been posted elsewhere he pulled his calf in warm up but Wane played him anyway. Not a good decision if true and ultimately cost the game. If it isn't then he was shown up.

He did go down the tunnel during pre-warm up. Thought something was wrong at the time.

| Gelling was all over the place tonight. He made Griffin look a world beater. Not surprised he wasn't fit.
What an effort in that last 20 mins.
Hull were excellent in the first 40 but were out on their feet the last 15.
Wane and Winder both said some bodies back for next week. Perhaps whoever they are talking about might just have been able to play v Hull but weren't risked as they are such a huge side.

Well then I can't understand what Wane was thinking. Could have made the injury worse and he left a hole in that side if the team. It's not as if he didn't have options with Isa who has played centre and ultimately we looked better when Gelling went off. Could he not have withdrawn Gelling during the warm up for the non playing reserve to make up a full 17?

| Despite being big we are usually a very fit team. We won a lot of games last year by simply outlasting teams. Last night showed how important Houghton is. Thats a guy who would have made circa 60 tackles. Its a lot of extra work for the others to do. We also made a lot of daft errors towards the end when we should have just been going back to basics and closing it out.
All the credit in the world to your young team though. Never know when theyre beaten.

| Hats off to that Wigan side. Unbelievable spirit to keep believing even when you looked done for. Last 12 mins was excruciating. But somehow held on. A pulsating game.
When your 12 injured troops come back what happens then..? lol

| I can see a Wigan Hull Grand Final this year. It's clear what Hull's tactics are against Wigan, same as the CCSF last year - throw the kitchen sink from the start and try to post points, then hang on.
They looked tired after 50 mins and I said at 0-22 if we score here we will fight back and win. Not to be, but a very enjoyable game and didn't really feel like a loss walking off. Looking forward to the return fixture!

| Williams was outstanding, the best player in the league for me. Think we was surprised to be 22-0 up and really struggled to adept to that. Missed Houghton at 22 - 4 he would have set us up for a drop goal when we had a few sets in your 20.
Some good young players coming through in SL at the moment.

I agree he's a top player but he blew a couple of overlaps last night when we attacked on our left edge in 2nd half.
Wane has said Gelling got a bang on his thigh and gonna be ok for next week. Hope it's true and last night was just a bad night at the office for him!

| John Winder was in the SS Bar last night after the game.
Said Gelling "felt some tightness in his hamstring", but that by coming off at half-time, he seems to have avoided tearing it and will go for a scan/assessment tomorrow.
Let's not forget that Forsyth looked to be ill as well - Throwing up on the pitch after about 20 minutes, with the physio shoving tablets down him.
Also said that Sutton, L Farrell and Gildart are all in with a good chance of returning next week.
As for last night's game - So proud of the way we played in the second half.
Suffered in the first, but as soon as Hull got tired after an hour, we were all over them and REALLY unlucky not to get the points.
As for the disallowed tries - First one looked perfectly good, but the second was a clear knock-on from where I was sat. 1 from 2 would still have been enoughh for the points, so I still feel just a little aggrieved.

Any team would look and be tired after all the defending Hull had to do.
It was all self inflicted.A reasonable completion rate Hulls was 50%, keeping hold of the ball instead of dropping so many passes and Wigan would not have been in the position to fight back like they did.

And if my auntie had balls........
Don't kid yourself.
Self-Inflicted - Like we're some lower-league club that stood no realistic chance against the mighty Hull.

I dont think thats what he meant, we had to do alot of defending and eventually the Dam would break.
What did surprise me was Fonua seemed to have one of them nights under the high ball and after you got a bit of success going at him with them you never really challenged him again.

Davies had a good game as well though, and I'd rather have a specialist winger out there, especially when you look at the Warrington game where Forsyth was caught out a couple times.

| Went away for the weekend straight after the game, so I'm commenting a bit late, but... credit to Hull, they were terrific on attack for part of that first half and on defence for most of the game. We seemed like rabbits in the headlights for the first hour but when we had nothing to lose we started to play with some freedom and as the tries came you could see belief flood back. I think we'll have learned a lot from that game. Came away proud as hell of the lads.

| It bodes well for the rest of the season. The flip side of the injuries is that Davies, Marshall, Wells, Forsyth and Shorrocks have all had valuable game time at a point in time when it doesn't really matter. If they are required at the business end of the season, I'm sure SW will be confident that any one, or all, will do a job.
