It was probably the best play of the game but it's man of the match not best play of the match. It was a forwards game.
For me
1: Lockers - I thought he was outstanding in both attack and defence. He helped the halves, he helped the props and generally made us tick.
2: Hansen - Brilliant work rate, looked shattered and understandably so.
3: Taylor - I thought he made a huge impact and really put them on the back foot.
Big shout for Matty's kicking too.

| Lockers- he is the glue that holds the team together. He's our best loose forward, prop and halfback rolled in to one and gives the team confidence and space to play with.
Smith- Lockers makes his job easier but what a kicking display. He must now be in England contention.
Taylor- This lad is a beast and when he's mid to late twenties he'll be works class.

| Lockers: how we've missed him recently
Taylor: great yards and getting better
Thornley: made some really important tackles and played his best game all year
PS: Josh's tackle back was the match winning moment: that could have let Hull back in.

| Smith - Kicked Hull to death
Lockers - Showed why he is the best technical rugby player. His control of our defence was immense. He will never win MOS but is still the best player in SL. Does everything well.
Taylor - Best prop yesterday and looks better each week.

Thornley & Charnley unlucky to miss out, both put on superb try saving tackles and Thornley did well to score with a sublime dummy and fend off.

| 1. Smith - Kicked Hull to death
2. Thornley - Great fend and step for his try and made some strong tackles
3. Taylor - Ran like a man possessed, he's our form player at the moment. If he keeps it up he could push for an England spot in the future
Does anyone have our defensive stats? I'd love to know who made the most tackles. Probably Lockers or Hansen

| Hansen - immense eighty minute game
Smith - his kicking game was pivotal in bringing the trophy back "home"
Thornley - I've been a big critic but he had a great game.
Unlucky to miss out Lockers, Mickey Mac and Scott Taylor.

Yes, Thornley was magnificent.
Can't understand why no one picked Sam. He positioned so well that he seemed to catch every long kick, he ran it back hard and made one particularly crucial tackle to save a try. And... he scored. Without him we probably would have lost.

| 1, Matty Smith with his outstanding kicking game.
2, Scott Taylor who's runs were taking the energy out of the Hull forwards every time he took the ball up.
2, Sean O'Loughlin, Quick fire busts with the ball and fast off the ground put us on the front foot repeatedly.

| Can I have a go as a neutral?
1) Smith was a stand out for me.
2) Hansen was all over the place and in a defensive game was a mach winner in his own way.
3) Torn as a few could get 3 but I go for O'Loughlin
Is Smith not consistently like this? Surprises me he isn't talked about from an England point of view more often

| Smith - his kicking game alone give us so much control - thought he played well
otherwise - didn't try anything too fancy (keep it simple worked fine)
Lockers - the glue that knits the side together, strong carries and defense,
led from the front as usual
Hansen - tackled everything and was so solid all game
Thornley had his most solid game I think I have seen and was close too. Taylor played very well when he was on as well.

I think both Farrell and Mossop came joint second for the Lance Todd behind Smith.
Having said that I do think Mossop had a very good game in particular and suprised he has not been mentioned more here but thats sometimes the way it goes.

| From an outsider, I would have had...
1. Taylor. (A handful all throught the match kept the team on the front foot)
2. Hansen. (Got through a hell of alot of work in both offence and defence)
3. Smith. (Obviously for his tactical kicking which controlled the game for long periods)
