WIRE have always had a hard core of thugs.
I remember in the early 80s them running riot with HKR fans down near the old craven park.
I seriously dislike them and would rather se Rovers win some silverware over that lot

it was the same place that the young lad got glassed 2 seasons ago. most wire fans are obviously decent people. seems to me the local bellend crew go to that pub to look for bother. some prick asked me as i was walking past "who the f*ck do you think you are" all because i had the nerve to walk through his town

the police really need to look into getting a more visible presence in that part of town on match days

Being a Warrington fan, I can honestly say I'm quite disgusted at the actions of some "scum" (As some of you here have put it) ... I'm not going to cry it's the minority, as although it is, it doesn't solve anything.

There was some people causing trouble outside the station and most likely wasn't even at the game, they've just been in the pub since 12pm as they have nothing better to do. They think they are the "Super cool" fans and are that annoyed at the loss they think they have to fight with the oppositions fans. Most of which are nice people and you can have a good bit of banter with them without it getting over the top, or fighting.

I'm sorry to hear you was targeted by these d*cks (Can i say that on here? Oh well) and even more sorry about your girlfriend, the good thing about Rugby League is you can get ANYONE involved. Men, Women & Kids... And when things like this happen where your girlfriend gets a broken nose, that will just put the women off coming to the games.

Warrington and it's fans are for the majority, not too bad. The area has calmed down (I live in Orford and it's toned down lately) and has become a little "safer" but like others have said, you do get the d*cks that come along and spoil a good night by causing a fight and causing other people to spend the night in A&E.

Warrington vs Wigan is always going to be a big game. And I for one enjoyed it tonight, yeah there was heart break when Wigan won, but the joys of this being a league game is having a loss this early doesn't matter too much. We lost to a good, strong team by only 2 points (Which if Briers had have stayed on, could have been 0 or a win) and we can take that win to next week and hopefully turn Hudds over.

The police should realise the heart both sets of fans have for their clubs, and how the thugs to get emotional and decide they have to fight to make them feel better and police the area better... I think it was the Warrington Homecoming after we won and Wembley, they had police horses out and bikes etc - They could have easily used those tonight as their presence alone is enough to make most thugs hide in their little corner.

But yeah - I'm rambling so again, I'm sorry to hear what happened to you, and I hope you don't completely tar all the Warrington fans with the same brush as we're not all like that, most just enjoy having a nice cold pint (Except at Salford where it's warm) whilst watching a good battle on the pitch before going home and posting on RLFans

Wire are scum because a group of fans caused trouble .. yes it is a bad incident but no offence it is not as worse as when hull came to the HJ a few seasons ago that wasnt one group of fans it was alot of fans bottles involved aswell .. so wigan fans not trying to cause an arguement but this is bad but being kicked out of super league for it .. not a chance!

This yob issue with wire fans has been going on since as long as I can recall, the very early 1970's.

The club don't really help either, I mean why did they sign players like Les Boyd ?

Warrington on and off the field are shocking.

Ive boycotted Warrington for years, ever since my family party where set upon by Warrington "fans". My mum had a right panic attack over it and my dad received a broken nose and 2 teeth knocked out.

These will be the same Warrington 'scum' fans that storm down Knowlsey road after yet another defeat. Asking pensioners to get their t*ts out etc.... While punching car windows as they pass.

I'm starting to dislike Warrington as a whole to be honest. LA bowl is full of Wire chavs too!

not all warrington fans are like that. yes you get the few s who have to much to drink and then cause fights, but you get that in every team! so how dare you say wire fans are the scum of rugby league?
last season when wigan lost at our ground, whilst walking out, 4 grown up men aged around 40+ chased a warrington fan who was about 19 outside the stadium near fun to be just because they didnt like the fact that they had lost!
i can quite simply re call a few other teams causing fights when they play at our ground like when a salford hit a police officer for no apparent reason then decided to shout to his mate to go and hit an innocent warrington fan who was walking past having a look what was going on just like every one else.
i hope everything is okay for the man and his wife who get hit today thou!

Facking scum bags. walking back to train station and loads of wire fans chased us lot. had a bit of a scuffle but nothing bad but after that i said to everyone u walk on and i will stay with the girls. but dont give a f**k where top of the league!!!!

I live on the Boulevard in Hull and Have been in all the local pubs on match days wearing my Wigan shirt and have never had an ounce of trouble. Nearly every day i walk round the area with a Wigan shirt or scarf on and still no problems. I have seen trouble at Leeds, Rovers, Warrington, Salford, Bradford (Valley Parade) but at the Wigan and Bradford game at Old Trafford, I left at half time due to Wigan 'fans' launching punches at each other by diving over inncocent bystanders, ripping up chairs. On fella even used me so he could keep his balance while he was randomly punching this bloke next to me who I had just been talking to. He had his wife and kids with him and the Stewards weren't bothered as long as it stayed in a small area. This small area included abouit 150 at least who were causing trouble, obviously small compared to the number of fans there but it seemed that a fair percentage in the area were quite happy to get involved.

The Kick off time was clearly an issue there and tonight, when people have full days of drinking and can't handle it they can easily turn. That day at Wigan was the first and last time my Sister in Law went to a game of Rugby League. So although this incident is shocking beyond belief, the majority of Warrington fans are decent people and the generalisations are unfair, we too have our SCUM.

unfortunately i'm the one who got the smack in the nose. Not broken thank goodness but my eye is blackening and my head is pounding (thats why i'm sat on here at four in the morning!!!)

The police came straightaway as they saw the incident on the cctv but they told us they saw the bloke run off straightaway. We went in the police car to try and see but he has already gone.

To be fair he was a big bloke who had no colours on, came from under the bridge and I knew as soon as I saw him he was targetting craig (Hogan) and headbutted him, he then turned to me and smacked me clean on the nose (OUCH!!!)

I usually drive to the game so I never have the need to walk that way but apparently it was the same place there was trouble last year.

Don't like how all the wire fans are being branded and I bet he never went to the game. This wont stop me going but I do think they need a police presence near that pub just so you can get to the train station safely.

no thank god, there was me hannah, craig and scott. Luckily a few other wigan fans was just behind us to came to our rescue but then they got one of them on the floor and tried to set fire to his shirt!!! I didnt see much more after getting smacked because Scott took me away straightaway to see if my nose was bleeding. Never saw anything like it!

To tar all Wire fans with the same brush is a bit wide of the mark as there was a lot of young children there with their parents and I feel sorry for them, that said I fully understand what you mean...

Sorry to hear your news. As some have pointed out, they were probably not even Wire fans who went to the game. I hope the Police identify those involved and the Club give them a lifetime ban, with the courts giving out a banning order preventing them from going into the town during match days. We as fans / supporters need to back this to save not only the reputation of our club but for the future of Rugby League.

I can understand the anger from the anger from the Wigan fans towards all wire supporters after reading this. Its' sad though that is happens at a fair few grounds these days.

Yeah i'm fine now just a bruised eye. All the wire police need to do is have a patrol round where the trouble always seems to be. And i dont blame the wire fans in general because i really think he just came out of a pub looking for trouble. It just seems to be trouble at this pub everytime.

I didn't witness the incident but it's the second time in the last 3 years there has been trouble in the exact same spot. I never feel safe walking past there. I got the number for Cheshire police and have made an official complaint and asked for them to put a better police presence on that stretch of street for at least half an hour after the game. If you too would like to make a complaint and actually try and get something done about it please call [size=1500845 4580000[/size. One voice alone might not work but a hundred voices could hopefully make the police sit up and take notice and make us all feel a lot safer just trying to make our journey home.

Jeez when will Wire address this problem? It happened all the way through the 70's 80's 90's 00's now this. Back in the 80's it got so bad even the famous 'Goon Squad' came along for some biff.
Even though we keep getting told its a minority this minority counts into the 100's not just a couple of lads asking for it, just check out the amount of 'casuals' who spend the whole game goading the opp fans. Leigh getting smashed up a few years ago a prime example, there was 2 bus loads that turned up that day outside the Leigh Arms(I was there).
As said before Wire need to get their house in order on and off the field, just check out Briers behaviour in the past and Myler, Mathers's towards opp fans last night.

No worries. Perhaps Hogan can put that number in the thread title? We desperately need to get something done about it. It's past being ridiculous.
