| Quote ="RichieS"He put pen to paper and signed for the club on Tuesday 15th May, you show me a post from myself saying he hasn't/won't sign after that date. Toronto offered him a great deal, Cas also came in late for a return and Warrington showed an interest. Wigan offered an improved deal which he subsequently signed. If you have any evidence to contradict that then please do allude, however I guess you simply want to stand by the "he signed ages ago!" stance.

For what it's worth I believe you, however I've just read that Zak asked to go back to Cas and they said no?

I guess it really is for him to explain, if anyone can be bothered, just go back and look through the posts I made on the matter. Not once did I post anything that I was entirely unsure of.
He was sacked pretty much straight away after the failed test, the legal team made it clear a reduced ban would potentially be possible, Cas then invited him back on a very, very low contract. Wigan showed interest (which I am now guessing was KR contacting him & I believe this is why people assume he signed ages ago), that interest was then rescinded and I posted that on here. Several other clubs then made offers, Toronto were front runners but Warrington remained his favoured destination due to friends he has there. A late offer from Cas wanting him back for 2019 followed by Wigan travelling over to see him and his family and coming in with a much improved offer that he signed.
I am delighted he is finally with us, God knows i've suggested it to him thousands of times! I know many are not but I hope we can clean slate it and we will all enjoy watching him shine!

I believe your post. But it does nothing to alleviate the concern I have regarding us signing Zak.
From your posts it would seem that Wigan was Zak's third choice when it comes to clubs (Warrington followed by Cas?)
We shouldn't want/need players that only put us as their third choice.

Just can't see him leaving Aus but worth an offer I guess.
His teams are also quite boring to watch, I'd give it 3 weeks before everyone wants Wane back

I actually hope it doesn't work out anyway. although WB certainly has more than enough pedigree I don't really like how he is portrayed and how he is with the media. he'd be another excuse for everyone to hate us though, so that's a plus!

| In this weeks Observer Waney says he had taken a two thirds pay cut to be an assistant to Maguire, for two years he wasn't paid very much, does anyone think Edwards would drop to such a low salary to be an assistant?

I don't. And I wouldn't expect the chairman to think that, either.

In Zacs latest interview in the Yorkshire Post he says that he pleaded with Cas to keep him and he offered to work for the minimum wage till his ban was up. Cas said no.
He seems to forget what he's said in other interviews.

That’s weird. Why would he have a pay cut for what was a big promotion? Wasn’t he U21s coach before? Hardly a big money position.

| As I remember it SW was not a full time employee of Wigan his main employment being a fairly senior management position with Tarmac. This was why he took a large pay cut to become Assistant Coach and maybe a reason he is widely regarded as having good man management skills.

This is one reason I would NOT want him at Wigan.
He's got a face like a smacked a**e and a permanent shoulder stoop from the size of the chip that sits on it.
I'm not saying that can't be rectified - and I'm not saying he isn't good at what he does - but when he's lost, he's one of the worst sulkers in the competition.

That was even the case 15 years ago when we beat Leeds in the 2003 playoffs - can't see it being rectified now if it hasnt been already.
Express frustration by all means - god knows how many times Wane has done it - but dont walk off in a sulk. Looked a right tit.

Its a long shot, but maybe he'll be different outside of the Cas environment? Let's face it the place is toxic when it comes to this kind of blame others mentality. The culture there screams to me of people that can't responsibility for thier own actions. There's always someone else to blame & rather than facing up to the fact they aren't good enough they'll look for any other excuse.
Let's not beat around the bush though, Bennett & Edwards vs Powell is a no brainer in regards to who Wigan fans would want to see.

Bennett and Edwards would be the ultimate coaching combo for Wigan, but perhaps for that reason alone, it feels like a pipedream to me.
To avoid tempting fate, I don't even want to join in the speculation. Too many painful memories of when Maurice told us we'd landed a top Aussie scrum-half. Everyone assumed it was Brett Kimmorley, and the place went into meltdown - then it turned out to be Dennis Moran.
