Not really, just stating the obvious. Wigan have excelled at the short game to reach more cup finals than any one has in the past or will in the future, cups are good but as stated, win 5 or 6 and you get a pot, smashin. The league on the other hand is where you have to win a couple of dozen games over several months to get a serious pot and then gain the opportunity to go and top it with another GF pot. All Im stating is the CC cant be compared in prestige to the League or GF. Dire have done OK over the last few seasons but their obnoxious fans should wind their necks in a little bit. "Were not wa*ky anymore" 1 pot and a final to come in 20 odd years hardly puts you in the record books so I think on the basis of scum fans and lofty illusions of grandeur and classing yourselves as "a big club" in my book, leaves you as still "wa*ky warrington"

Perhaps, its sport, its not impossible.
It would be unbelievable if Wire finished 3rd and won the last ever game at Knowsley Road.

Wire fans are just getting a bit giddy, can you balme them really? Try spending 30 years in their Nike Airs.
I wouldn't knock the CC, I wouldn't give it any less prestige than the GF. For me the league is the main one, that shows the true class and consistency to get up for games, week after week, month after month, different ground after different ground. It would feel hollow to win the GF without finishing top. It would be a 'hollow championship' IMO. I'm so glad we can attack the GF from 1st. If we won it, it would feel genuine.

| Wire are in the final, and like you lot like to point out, some wire fans do like to go on about it.Wouldnt you if Wigan hadnt bought all they success from years gone by.The quality of rugby played by both clubs should be appaulded by both sets of fans.Even if some say your style is more like wrestling,if it wins you games then so be it.Tbh i would love it if we both get to the GF because i know if wire win you lot are going to have the mickey taken out of you for weeks, and am sure if you win your fans will do the same.

You have a wonderful propensity for enunciating puerile obloquy. Wigan have equally '[idone OK over the last few seasons[/i' apart from bringing home no silverware, yet it's Wire who have '[ilofty illusions of grandeur[/i '? Your resorting with entirely predictable regularity to crude invective also gainsays any merit in your flimsy propositions. Your '[ibook[/i', I needs must suggest, is infantile in the extreme. The mature among us will continue to enjoy our Challenge Cup experience.

Cracks me up that!! So we earn all this money through success, but fans of other clubs expected us not to spend it - just to give them a chance!

Didn't Warrington but Alex Murphy, Dave Chisnall, Kevin Ashcroft etc and bring in Mike Nicholas, John Bevan etc or was that different?

In fact, it was different. We have rehed these arguments, many, many times, so somewhat redundant to raise them again. However, in the decade 1985-1995 or thereabouts Wigan were the only full-time pro team and resorted to anything to cajole, steal, unsettle, persuade, co-erce, and many other verbs, the best players from all other clubs to join them. It was nearly the ruin of the sport and even bankrupted the Pies twice. That's a bit different from other teams signing a few players in search of success.

When did Wigan go full time pro.
Please tell us your view.
Where did Andy Gregory go to from Widnes, where did John Wood and Des Drummond go to from Leigh.
When Wigan beat Wire in 1990, how many local players were in the Wire side, and how many were in the Wigan side?
Where did Jonathan Davies go to from Widnes.
Why was it necessary for Warrington to sign Myler, Solomona, Bridge, Atkins, Anderson and Hodgson?

| Wigans arrogance in the late 80's and early 90's was unbelievable. They were the only full time club and believed they had a bottomless pit of money. Once a player atarted to shine elsewhere, he was softened up by the club connections and it was only a matter of time before he started missing training, stalling on contracts etc. In reality, it wasn't unlimited funds and the club nearly went the way of Widnes. I remember the talk about having to play at Bolton.
When they played the Wire in 90, bearing in mind that most of their players had been there a few years running, some of the Wigan players were critisizing Warringtons lack of professionalism because some of their players were waving to family in the stands pre-match. It was our first visit for 15 years FFS.
As for Lindsay. He was expecting clubs such as Wire and Widnes. Wakey and Cas, Hull, HKR to merge. How would he have felt if in the early 80's calls were made for 2nd division Wigan and Leigh to merge.
Truly arrogant club, fans and officials.

When we played Widnes at Wembley in 84, check out the old photo's of the teams entering onto the pitch.
Widnes, fully focused, looking ahead - concentration all the way until the hooter sounded.
Wigan players, laughing & giggling, waving at family / wives...etc.
And guess what happened, we got battered too that day as well.
Then fast forward to Manly 87 (on Youtube) and Wigan's slow entrance to fireworks for a marked contrast, such concentration never seen since.

| Another thread turning slowly into a ww/ww girly session.
Isn't this about Wire and Leeds and who will win and not about Wigans success ?
If we like it or not Wigan are the most successful team in the comps history, if they are the only pro side or not the history book shows the won 8in a row.
Wigan if you notice Wire fans only 'brag' to you and Saints, it would be safe to say it's a local rival kind of thing.
You don't get most of the other clubs from the wrong side saying we are arrogant.
back to topic, i'll go with Wire i think

Its John Woods not John Wood & he went to Bradford not Warrington after Leigh. He then went back to Leigh after Warrington.

This is a point I always bring up re this hugely over exaggerated lie.How many Wigan born or trained lads were in this "only full time team in 10 years". Even minus the trophys we had won in that period, we would still quadruple Wires. Then again how can we argue with them about home grown talent and buying in players? How many Wires in their first choise 13? 2

So does that exonerate you? Because you sent him back a useless veteran?
I still remember that New Year's Day when he tried to pick a fight with Shaun Edwards and got absolutely battered by 17-year-old Dave Marshall.
What about all the other questions that you failed to answer. Get on with it.

That poster reminds me of an equally brainless Leigh fan I once had a dispute with at the Wigan Beer Festival. He insisted that Wigan had only won everything in the 80s and 90s because they "bought all the Australian team". When I pointed out that Wigan only actually had one Australian Test player in that side - Gene Miles - and that he was there for one year, when he was a veteran - he called me a "typical Wiganer", and stormed off.
They don't like facts, these fellas.
