There is a philosophical argument that says there is no such thing as a wrong opinion. It's not one I subscribe to because if that were true you could say Adolf Hitler was a good man. Opinions have to backed up with some reasonable substance to be respected. Our new coach may fail but if he does it says nothing about the people who wanted Noble out, certainly not that they are silly.

MM's CV suggests he has the coaching armoury to be successful and from my point of view address the issues I have criticised Noble for. So while nothing is guaranteed I struggle to see why some people would think he does not stand a good chance of improving on Noble's record. If they can point to some valid reasons why then we can have a debate.

Liam , I am with you there.Why the hype - if he was so good why has he not been snapped up by the NRL. At the end of the day he is unproven and I would be surprised if he does as well as Noble with the players that you currently have at the club.

Every new coach is unproven til they start their job................why the negativity.....just reserve your judgement til the end of next season.....then judge him by what he has provided .............simple

i don't know much about the man, what is his coaching pedigree? The majority of you seem very pleased though, which sounds promising

We know why Billinge Wire is being negative. His post translates as: "Oh crap! And just when we thought Wire had the edge on them."

Every new coach starting out is unproven. But as a lot of you say you are the biggest club in the world. Would United replace Ferguson with a new comer - I doubt it. If you want to be the best , you have to spend the money for the best.Lets be honest it is widely know that the job was offered to others before Maguire - so he was hardly the first choice.

From watching the interview you can immediately tell that he and Lenegan get on and from what he says he obviously share's the same feelings on how to take the club forward as Lenegan.

So so happy for Wane that he gets his chance as well, I'm sure he'll be pushing for some of the youngsters to get a game or two next year such as Mellor and Thornley.

Kearney is well known. It is also fairly well known that he said 'no' because he wanted the Kiwi job.

I'd love to know who all the other candidates were.

To which he's just signed a new deal with today, 4 years I believe.

I doubt we asked anyone else if I'm honest! I don't care who we asked anyone, I am chuffed with the one we have!

I think fans at all clubs have an opinion on a coaches team selection and its bound to be a bigger issue if the team is as inconsistent as we have been if the coach is perceived to be picking players who are not performing. This only started to be an issue with Noble in 2008. He was given the benefit of the doubt after 2007 IMO.



That is fair enough but the reason I think people are optimistic is he has worked under a very successful coach in the NRL and so people expect him to bring new ideas. He is also an ex conditioner so this ticks the box he won't put up with poor levels of fitness which is a common complaint on here.

Of course he could run the side the same way as Noble, make no changes to how things are done and feed pies to Feka and Riddell. If there is no change then eventually he will get the same complaints levelled at him as Noble did by the same people but like all new coaches he will get the honeymoon period.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Of course there's no guarantees he will be a success however he looks like a great appointment for any side and I predict he will deliver some silverware.

Would you have been happy with him at Saints after Anderson left?

Never mind that. We're still waiting to hear who all the other candidates were who the job was offered to first. And don't say Kearney again; we know about him.
