I'd go along with that.
We need the bench to have a good impact this week.

I'd agree with that except that I'd play Lockers at SO regardless of whether Deacon's fit. I'm not sure I'd have Deacon in the 17.
As Leeds will be missing a key playmaker and will inevitably be resorting to the usual "gamesmanship" to try to even things up then I think we should put out the biggest side we can and take advantage of Leeds depleted forward line up.
Discipline will be the key to this game. That's a very powerful 17 and should have enough to beat Leeds, but they have home advantage (and the home biased refereeing at Headlingley usually means at least a 6 point start for the Whinos) and they will do absolutely everything they can to get to the GF. We need Joel and others to keep their heads and get on with the job. If we keep our composure we will beat them.

| If Deacon doesn't play then I am worried that Leeds will gain easy field position through poor kicking. Deacon HAS to play simply because he can turn teams around. Leeds will be looking for a physical game and making them turn around to retreive the ball will sicken them. I will say it again that the bench needs to be strong. If anything Mcillorum should be dropped and use Piggy & Tommy as interchanges at 9. Deacon at 7 and Lockers at 6
1 Tomkins
2 Goulding
3 Gleeson
4 Carmont
5 Richards
6 O'Loughlin
7 Deacon
8 Fielden
9 Riddell
10 Coley
11 Hansen
12 Tomkins
13 Farrell
14 Feka
15 Leuluai
16 Tuson
17 Prescott
Loads of options with that. O'Loughlin can drop into Lock to spell forwards, Leuluai can interchange at 9 and into the halves. Probably wont happen but in order to give the side as bigger engine as possible along with Deacons kicking that is what I would go with.

| a lot has been said here about their pack and sinfield running things. this is only the case as MM yet again played the wrong side and wrong tactic and leeds bossed us through the centre of the park. neither side had many chances on the wings.
get the team right and we won't need to worry about who might win the game for them.

Same for me except I'd have Tuson on the bench instead of Prescott. Prescott is just to error and penalty prone for my money, especially in big games

Do you really think we should be going to Leeds with 3 props one of whom being Feka who wont be effective playing anything over 30 mins

Yes i do he played 30min in the second half against KR Madge has made the mistake twice now not going with 3 props and using them if we dont use 3 experienced props we might as well not bother going.

I don't see Prescott doing much to help matters, he dies in the tackle, knocks on and gives away penalties. Let Farrell, Tuson or Hansen muck in at prop, they'd do a better job between them. Also Feka looked fresh coming off last week and was great when on, I reckon he could do two 20s which is all you need out of a prop really

| In fact I'd start Feka, its bound to be firey at the start and he's a good man to have in the collision. No way would they risk moving the ball about to try and exploit him in the first 20, they would have to let him play his natural game

I actually thought Prescott was quite good against Hull KR. The only player that has been slightly disappointing over the last few weeks has been Tuson, who doesn't quite seem able to match his performances earlier in the season, although he's still performing well, especially for someone of his age and level of experience.
Going with 3 props against Leeds would put us in big trouble again, and there's not much difference in errors and penalties conceded between our main set of forwards.
Tuson just doesn't offer the same as Prescott in terms of metres and whilst Tuson will tackle everything that moves he still struggles defending against the biggest players, which Prescott doesn't.

What I mean is we should have 4 props; Fielden, Coley, Feka and Prescott who I think brings a lot more than Tuson because of his size and the fact he's played in these games before.
There is no way Farrell or Tuson would do a better job at prop than Prescott. That is ludicrous. He makes more meters than either, is far bigger and has played in more games of the level of Saturdays game. He's also made fewer errors than Farrell despite playing more games. I think Prescott is undervalued, I'm not saying he's top class or should start but he certainly adds to the team and is definitely a better prop than Farrell or Tuson would be and probably better than Hansen at prop too.
And starting Feka? I get the feeling you're just taking the .

| we have to play 4 props what ever team we have out!
That is where we have lost games this year, only playing 3 props. It shown against warrington, leeds x2 and saints.
We can bully them up front if sinfield moves to the halves and we need to use this to our advantage!

| Has to be the team we beat Hull KR with, purely for the momentum and keeping things consistant going into the game. Sinfield will most probably move into the halves which gives them a little less up front and we need to exploit that, and the form Fielden and Coley have been in this season, along with the others up front, I see no reason to change things.

If Deacon is fit i disagree with you, our kicking game was nothing short of shambolic against Hull KR and Leeds would kill us for it.

| Does anyone reckon our choice of Captain could have a bearing on the game?
Just thinking that if we gave it to Coley or Joel it could help to focus them more and avoid any loss of focus?
