| Lenagan was already a Director of the Footbll League. I'd imagine Non-Exec Chairman is nothing more than a part-time role.

Or more importantly, ensure that the Football League take notice of specific fixture requests from clubs who share dual purpose stadiums. Hopefully it will mean Latics will not be at home next Good Friday.

| He is of course he should be in my view in charge of the RFL,watching him and Heathrington on Backchat last season was like watching TV in the modern era while Heathrington was like the 1970'stv,safe andwhat we know,Lenegn has vision and lots of it and i find it a shame that vision will be used for football while the greatest game lurches from mushy pea sponsership deal to the next.

| Lenagan in charge of the RFL would only be supported by Wigan fans and would draw parallels with when uncle Mo was in charge, funnily enough who was only supported by Wigan fans then...No thank you.

Lindsay was a revelation and a visionary for the sport. Only one eyed morons didn't and still don't realise what he did for the game.

It was certainly interesting while he was in charge thats for sure,I still stand by what i say Lenegan is a massive loss to RL he has a vision for the sport that is like it or not in grave danger of disappearing, but still lets all support the great job the bods at Red Hall are doing atm as the game is thriving isnt it?

| Red Hall is a mess, but that is down to too many people wanting it their own way and no one willing to compromise on anything.
Too many people with big mouths and shallow pockets in this sport.

| Koukash would be nightmarish but still better than Fat Nige.
If Fat Nige was ice cream he'd eat himself, as the saying goes, saying the if you locked him in a room for more than an hour he'd probably eat himself.

I'm not calling you stupid, just partisan.
The greed and self interest of the club's that is so prevalent was aided and facilitated by Lindsey, if Walker had been left to run it, I personally think the game would have been in better hands and we wouldn't be running at such a restrictive cap that keep the poor clubs poor and the rich clubs unable to spend.
Lindsey was a capitalist and yes we needed capital, pull in the money but no clear direction as to where to invest it and Walker was a pragmatist for the game as a whole a visionary, Lindsey took credit for the move to summer rugby when it was never really his idea, and because of that ended up ousting Walker and became this 'great saviour'. I still think that his short termism is the reason our sport is still where it is.

| Plus the years in which Wigan dominated came under Lindsey so I get why he's well loved by Wigan fans but the perception by most of those times is that Wigan were killing this sport.
Didn't you sell central park because of massive debts accrued although I'll be honest I'm not sure how involved Lindsey was with that, because he left and came back.

I have some sympathy with your view, but Wigan's crippling debt - which guys like you so often trumpet as the reason why that whole period was a disaster - was at least partly down to the subsiding coal mine discovered under Central Park when the new stand was being built. Wigan had to take care of that themselves, and it cost an awful lot of money.
It's funny how that is almost never mentioned by other fans when assessing that period - like it's one of those very inconvenient truths.
By the way, Lindsay is not beloved by Wigan fans. That may well be a perception in Warrington, where he is no doubt still loathed for the crime of having been a Wiganer, but Mo's last period in office was nearly catastrophic for the Wigan club. Between them, he and Whelan almost managed to get us relegated, which would have been unthinkable several years earler. At best he is a regarded as an ambitious and adventurous chairman who was determined to restore Wigan's glory after many years of stagnation, but who was also a chancer and a gambler and that this ultimately was his undoing.
This idea that all Wiganers unquestioningly love him in the same way that all Warringtonians, St Helensers etc unquestoningly hate him is nonsense.

Lindsey's salary cap was conceived purely to stop clubs going bust, set at 50% of income - it's on;y later that it became corrupted into this "level playing field" nonsense. The game was dying, starved of income under Walker until Lindsay brought in the Murdoch money, improved TV contracts and bigger name sponsors. He was also one of the few that was pro-expansion. Sure he had faults, not least his doomed support of mergers, but he was better than anyone we've had since, especially Wood.
And yeah, as Cruncher points out, his second spell at Wigan was far from popular.

| Wigans dominance came under Lindsey and that's the reason people were fond of him.
Plus there simply wasn't the money in the game for everyone else to spend silly, that truly would have killed the game.
We were damned if we did and dammed if we didn't.

That is ridiculous. What do you mean there simply wasn't the money in the game? Leeds and Widnes spent big and the option to go and find their their own "gang of four" board of directors was open to any club.
Before Mo Lindsay & Co took over Wigan was run by a large board of directors and was going nowhere fast. They took over and the rest is history. I would bet my house that rather that happen the owners of clubs that moaned just didn't want to even consider others may be better suited to running their clubs and wanted to the glory from running the club, playing the "big I am". That in my view hasn't changed a great deal and is part of the problem.
