Adrian Lam has named the Wigan Warriors 21-man squad to face Huddersfield Giants in Round 20 of the Betfred Super League.
Fresh off the back of a crucial derby win last Friday, Lam’s men head to Emerald Headingley Stadium to take on Huddersfield Giants this Friday night, knowing a win will secure the League Leaders’ Shield.

The Head Coach has made one change to the side that faced St Helens with Joe Greenwood being replaced by winger Dom Manfredi, who returns after missing out last week with a knee injury.

Second-rower Greenwood is unavailable after being handed a two-match penalty notice for a Grade C High Tackle, committed in the win over Saints last week.

Manfredi back in for me although Bibby has done well. Time to have that look at George Burgess for me in place of Clubb. How he can be in after doing about 15 mins last week is beyond me. That’s back to what happened in the first couple of games of the season. Harry Smith to take Greenwood’s spot on the bench.

Bang on NK. Greenwood played well but that impulsive act at the end of the game last week might mean he won't play again this year.

That's exactly the team I would pick. Clubb only managed about 15 minutes last week, but went o.k. Lam needs to give G. Burgess some game time to see if he's up to it.

This game won't be easy. Huddersfield have run a lot of decent teams to close scores.

We have to see what Burgess is capable of, if only to cover the eventuality of losing Bullock or (this one's for FTV) Singleton. Losing either of those would seriously dent our chances. Maybe not to a Walmsley degree but enough to matter. If he's not up to a sustained stint of good quality he shouldn't be under consideration for the playoffs.

Manfredi every day of the week before Bibby, although Bibby has been solid.

Can’t see George Burgess forcing his way in this year. We’ve not time to get him match fit. If only Havard was still fit.

What’s the deal with Lockers? I’d have him on the bench next week if fit, he was quality that last 20 minutes of the Warrington game.

I'm not convinced swapping Clubb for Burgess would weaken the side - even if George doesn't display much improvement.

For me Manfredi has done nothing to say he automatically deserves a first team place when fit. I like the lad but so far he seems to have lost a bit of his spark which is obviously understandable

Burgess probably needs to play again this season, simply to see if the rehab is working. If it isn't, then it's not looking good.

Can we afford to only find out the above at the start of next season?

Clubb needs game time just as much as George does.

Thought Clubb was pretty solid for the short stint last week. Well disciplined too which is good for him. If he can do 2 stints then he keeps his place for me. George Burgess hasn't earned a place in the side and the only thing he has going for him now is his reputation. He has been awful in every game bar Huddersfield away. Not ideal that there is no reserve games etc but every forward at the club has outplayed him. If i was Lam, he doesn't get in the first team again this season.

Take no chances. If in "any" doubt on fitness then neither Burgess or Manfredi should feature.

Big payday, an honour, a week off to prepare.

Ive got a feeling Huddersfield will come to give us a tough game and they will be no pushover.
Also although Bibby is solid but unspectacular he doesn't deserve to be dropped and I believe sends out a message that players get a game on merit in that if you continue to play well then you retain your place.

The thought of G Burgess and Clubb in the starting 17 does not fill me with any confidence whatsoever. They would struggle to play 30 minutes between them.

Hope we can remember how to play at Headingley - we've been bloody awful there since lockdown 1.
