| A lot of the miseries on the virtual terrace are moaning about today's game and saying it was the worst final ever. I disagree. Certainly Hulls ball handling was poor; not only were passes dropped, but many passes were at or above head height. Hulls completion rate was very poor. The ref didn't help by allowing such slow play the ball. But on the other hand each defence was effective, Hull kept Tomkins well policed, and Wigans defence never looked like conceding. I thought Wigan won most of the collisions. And for once I thought Wigan had a good kicking game, and a decent chase, which kept Hull pinned in their own half for long periods. Quite frankly I was on the edge of my seat until the last score. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I think the negative comments came from people unable to appreciate a really tight game. Realy pleased for Mr Wane and very glad I went to the game.

| I thought Wigan played a very smart and tactically astute game. From a Wigan fan's perspective, why should we even remotely care whether it was a good spectacle or not? 19 times winners.

Agreed, not pretty, but awful conditions dictated. There was some excellent positional kicking today.

Exactly!
A bad game? I don't think so! It was cracking as a Wigan fan. If other teams fans didn't enjoy it that's no concern of ours.

| Sorry - it was awful to watch from a neutral POV. Close it may have been but that was because hull çouldnt hold the ball and Wigan appeared unable to be creative despite all the possession and field position they had. It was a terrible advert for rugby league- not helped by the commentating. Conditions can't completely excuse it.
Of course Wigan fans wouldn't see it that way- neither would I expect them to as its a completely different kettle of fish when your own team is involved and you have something at stake. But it won't encourage any first timers to watch again- that should concern all league fans

can't believe anybody plays rugby union if people only play it based on the performance of professional teams... give over todays game showed brutal hits and good defense, if passing, running and making breaks was all that counts everybody would play touch.

| I actually remember thinking after 25 minutes it was a very good quality game given the conditions with great completion rates and intelligent kicking.
From then on Hull's handling went to pot for some reason but again that's no concern of ours.

| Considering the conditions it was a good, tough game, yes the handling wasn't brilliant especially from Hull , but both defences were superb, and the result was never secure until about 10 mins to go..Thought Bentham reffed it really well .Charnleys chase back to deny the try was the game breaker ,Matty smith,Lockers and Taylor were our three stand out players..We've won the cup and thats all that matters..i have never been a fan of Shaun Wane , but i have to congratulation him today and say that he got it spot on

| Congratulations to Wigan and their fans today.
In terms of celebrating mediocrity, you've all managed to out-do Leeds and all that regular season tripe they serve up prior to winning SL titles from 5th.
Worst. Final. Ever.

| It was never going to be the greatest spectacle ever with those conditions, and I guess we had to play tactically well enough to suit the conditions. Matty Smiths kicking game was the difference at times. Throwing the ball about like theres no tomorrow would have only lead to even more knock ons.
If the scoreline had been the other way around I bet no one would be complaining.

Correct. I suspect all those that are complaining would prefer a 42-38 scoreline or similar.

| Not sure if anyone dissing the final has ever played rugby in torrential rain before...
Yes there were errors and it got worse in the second half, but up to half time it was a good game - close scoreline with defences on top. We never really had to work hard for it as Hull bombed most of their half-chances. And, if Charnley hadn't made that try-saver, then who knows...

If celebrating winning the cup is celebrating mediocrity then what is the excuse for fans of every team celebrating a regular season win? Why do they even bother watching? Top 8 in the playoffs celebrates mediocrity, celebrating winning the cup is celebrating greatness...in this case for the 19th time.

I would have preferred both teams holding onto the ball a bit better tbh. There was a period of about 15mins in the second half when neither team completed a set.
It's not great seeing a scrum every other minute.

| Personally I enjoyed the game.
Thought it was a good example of grinding out a win in difficult conditions and a low scoring game (apart from the last minute try making the margin wider).
If Wigan had ripped them a new bumhole like you did London in the semis, people would have complained about that too.
Wigan fans should stick two fingers up at the knockers and celebrate the win IMO.

| Shocking advert for RL in this country.
From the coverage by the BBC to the reffing of the game.
No skill on show today and can`t think where those brutal hits were.
Must have missed that bit.
As for playing in poor conditions it never stopped Leeds and Saints putting on a good game that had the skill factor and the big hits.
Congratulations on winning the CCF again.
It`s not as if you had an easy run this time.
On a serious note as a leeds fan I would love to have seen us win the CCF and a win is a win however you achieve it.
Still thought it was a poor game though
