| Sorry, but I just can't get up for supporting ''England'' with as much enthusiasm as I would have for Great Britain. To me, England is just a make shift, amateur setup and although the home nations being split serves a purpose, I think it really spoils the British Rugby League international scene.
Don't get me wrong, I hope we win and will be paying money to go watching them, but to be honest I'm probably more looking forward to seeing Australia's top players opposed to watching my own country's team.

| Like ABP I'm more looking forward to watching Australia's and New Zealand's best than England.
Plus I'd feel more inclined to support it were it Great Britain who were playing.

| I have put kind of because I am looking forward to some RL but I think I am looking forward to watching the best players in action.
Greg Inglis, Thurston, Slater, Folau..... cannot wait.
I am pretty sure on the day the crowd will be fired up. But it would feel bigger is it was GB and I think with it being on the BBC more people would watch if it was Britain.

| I was, until I saw the four nations team we where putting out.
I'm now looking forward to Smith getting sacked as coach of the National Side. The world cup was a real chance for English RL to jump into the news with a win agianst a decent side. Most people will support their country in any world cup if they are doing well. I wanted League to repeat Unions success in 2003. Remember the Mania?? Imagine that but for RL!!!
Tony Smith's narrow minded team selection ruined it, not because he favoured a team but instead a style of play, that failed miserably and brought no back-ups.
Now he favours a team, because he is their coach. The sooner he is gone the better, LTS, stick it in your sig?

| I'm excited about watching this England team tbh probably more so then any other England or GB team for a good while because it's got a fresh look to it and some really exciting youngsters in it.
I don't expect us to win it by any means but we may sneek the final and if we do that'll be a great lesson for superb young players like Briscoe, Myler, Eastmond, Burgess, Moore and hopefully Tomkins(if selected).

| After Tony Smith's team choices I'm looking forward to the Aussie v New Zealand game more than any thing they always produce the best rugby your ever likely to see but my heart isn't in England at the moment we won't perform with the squad he has picked and the way hes gone about things.

| Not excited at all. It's a terrible team. We've veteran players and young players but not much in between and i was asking on the VT board why is our talent pool so pathetically weak.
I was arguing that Tom Briscoe and Richard Myler shouldn't be anywhere near the test squad, never mind playing.

| The apathy that has crept into the enjoyment i have had for rugby league over my life has been compounded by this England team selection.
I will not be watching the game tonight but will be looking forward to watching 2 teams packed with quality passionate players tomorrow and very much looking forward to it.

| Agree with Bilko,
The England forwards are good quality and they have now to turn up and play, something they didn't do in the World Cup.
The threequarters are awful, hardly any would get into an NRL first team. Myler hasn't played and Tom Briscoe is just back after a long lay off.
A wrong selection policy on the halves too. McGuire a right choice as a senior player but to have three inexperinced players is plainly wrong.
Tomkins and Eastmond should be there but we should also have an experinced scrum half. If not Burrow then Brough could do a very good job behind that massive English pack.
Tony Smith is not up to the job and he proved that in the World Cup. He should have been sacked after the final whistle in the lost semi.

| Not since Maurice Bamford was the Great Britain coach have I looked at our squad and thought "WHAT??!?"
I remember Deryck Fox being selected ahead of Andy Gregory, which seems even more absurd now. Myler ahead of Tomkins is a joke, and a repeat of that, for me.
I hope for Smith's sake his selections work. I hope he really does know what he's doing, that he knows 'something', and that it will all pay off. I hope that he's picked a 'team', good hard solid grafters that will work well, have pride in the shirt, and do a job. That can be the only explanation, because he's not gone down the 'star name' route, has he?
I've always gone into test matches with some hope that we can pull a win off, but I really cannot see it this year.

Ah the Bamford years, i'd just about managed to mentally block those out - i'm still scared from some of the selections back then.
I hope England do well, though i'm not confident of that. I hope all the players perform well and will be supporting all of them regardless of club and regardless of my views on TS's selection.
I voted i'm not really excited because there's no feeling for me of connection yet with the England squad - i.e. it's more got the feeling of a picking a bunch of players, and not building a 'team' over a period of time that you become emotionally invested in. I can't understand for the life of me why we've got into this situation of the previous mostly leeds+saints squad, to the current 'all change' squad without any actual transition period.
What makes that feeling even worse for me is that I feel the same thing is likely to happen again once TS is replaced, surely it's hard to find another coach who'd have included Sykes at fullback or Higham in the squad. We don't play enough international games to waste them with experiments or players who are leaving the code. It's not even like we have the Origin games to get players from different clubs used to each other etc.

| I have zero enthusiasm for the tournament to be honest. Probably still bitter about the shambles we had to put up with in Australia last year.
Smith's one-eyed selections don't lead me to think we'll do any better this time.
Still be going to a couple of England games though...

Even before the Sam debacle we weren't picking the correct squad because Smith is holding a grudge against the countries best available centre for wanting to leave Warrington.
Say what you like about Gleesons form he's still the 2nd best British centre in the game after Keith Senior and should have been selected.
We can also slam Leon Pryce but i believe he should have made the squad as a utility back ahead of dross like Paul Sykes or Chris Bridge or ahead of a Rugby Union bound Lee Smith.

Well exactly.
I mean it's not like we don't reward players with the current and potential earnings opportunity to match their talent is it?

Correct, a customer of mine who was over at the same time as us who went to the games isn't going any this time round. If it wasn't for the Kiwi's vs Australia tomorrow it wouldn't be worth watching, I'm looking forward to that game the most rather than any of our games after what we went through in Oz.
Go the facking Kiwi's I say!!

Great Britain means Rugby League, England means anything but.
I asked my girlfriend did she want to go watching England V Australia, she said no, she only realised this week I was on about RL, she thought it was cricket. She'd have come if I'd said GB V Australia, now i know any RL worth there salt would know its not GB anymore, but i think that's a perfect example of how GB means RL and England doesn't.

GB Team of the 90's would put 30 on this lot.
