Everybody needs to calm down. We played pap today but lost by only 8. If the Saints first try in second half was rightly ruled out it could of been very interesting. Sam knocked on over line which is very rare and Josh's try getting chalked off was balls. Our last tackle option was unusually poor too so theres plenty of areas we can do better in.

No need to panic yet. A hard fought win over Catalans next week would do us good if we can manage it. Playing Saints at Widnes in the semi is better off for us than playing them at home imo. Our away support will drown out anything they can offer at Widnes just like all we could hear today was the Saints fans.

We have now been written off and we have a point to prove.

I agree , we are still in with a massive shout and i for one hope we come back stronger next week, but you have to acknowledge that Saints had the better of us in every area today , you can refer to sam's knock on and Josh Charnleys 'try' , but thats Rugby for you and don't forget saints had chances of their own as well

I have, but what I see isn't the wigan i've been watching the last two years. Last year, I could see us in the GF all season even at this point last year. What i see now, is a tired, defeated squad. Trust me, i'd love to be pleasently suprised, but i just can't see beyond next week. We're slowing down to a stop IMHO.

Same here. If you look back at my posts all this season I have said several times we have not looked convincing even when we have won. So it's far form a knee jerk reaction. The only games we really hit the straps compared to last season are the cup games v Saints and Wire. Other than that we ground out too many messy wins and had too many draws to say we have played with anything like as much conviction as 2010.

In 2010 I always felt we were going to batter someone at some stage we looked that good. We have never reached those heights outside the cup this year.

Can't see past warrington for the title now. Wther that be by beating wigan or saints in the final. That's what it comes down to now IMO.

I have a strong feeling you'll play saints at widnes, win, then be thrashed by warrington in the final.

But come on, it's incredibly difficult to maintain those type of levels for much longer than 18months in the current climate.

That's why i believe leeds 3 titles on the trot and saints recent run in grand final is quite underrated. Alot of the time teams don't realise how hard it is to maintain until they get up there, win something, and have to try and do it again, they think once you win it just all magically flows on from there.

Without the week off, we wont make Old Trafford. We put all our eggs into Wembley this year. No team can win both, its to difficult.

Exactly - the run to Wembley victory (Wire/Saints/Leeds) looks like it took a huge amount out of the squad, the second half of the final and games since the team have looked very tired and jaded. At times yesterday the Wigan pack looked totally dead on their feet. I would be very tempted to give the likes of O'Carroll and Tuson a chance - at least they should be fresher (shame Hock totally let every one down - he would be really useful right now).

I wouldn't be surprised to see us beat Saints in 2 weeks (providing we get through Catalans), but Wire would muller us at OT.

It's going to be a case of just running out of steam at some point.

I actually feel more confident of winning a semi at Saints then I do beating Catalans if that makes sense. We have struggled big time against Catalans this season and the side looks in a similar place at the moment to that we were in when we faced them at the DW in the league.

Our minds don't seem to be on the job and I feel Catalans could come and shock us. If we do beat them though we will go to Saints and win to set up a final against Wire.

IMO we didn't play well in the semi against Saints, we just did enough to win and haven't played anywhere near the level of last year all this year.

Teams have gotten wise to our attacking plays which just involves whipping the ball out wide and teams know Deacon and Finch aren't going to go on their own and slide all the way out preventing us from getting an overlap which was so easy last year, inside balls and inside runners are needed to put that doubt into the defenders minds, we did it once yesterday and O'Loughlin scored.

Agreed, but it needs a totally different mentality this week to last.

It's backs against the wall time now, so no excuses if we turn up half d in defence again.

Have to agree that we just look knackered. Madge again in his post match interview yesterday refused to blame the fatigue factor but you can just see it.

I don't accept that at all. Look at Leeds. They were at Wembley and have found form since then. They probably aren't good enough to win the GF but that won't be because Wembley took it out of them but just that they don't have the basic quality in the side any more. We do and so you have to ask how come Leeds look on form and we don't.

To be fair to Wigan, Leeds didn't have as tough a route to the final.

I know some of you are saying how jaded your team looks, but at the end of the day, Leeds beat you at a similar stage last year and you came back to win the playoffs.

Hard to see past Wire though, isn't it.
