| Just got back now and what can I say, talk about bored, the general lack of ideas and loss of direction was atrocious. Hull were bad but god did we try and match them, after watching that it's no surprise when I look back how we lost to wakey and cas early on in the season when we respect are opponents like we did tonight.
We vary rarely ever post big scores against other teams and when we totally disrespect teams below us in the table like we did tonight it's no surprise, while others such as Leeds and Saints rack up big scores because they go into each and every game with the utmost respect for the opposition.
But credit to some players I thought the following gave there all.
Amos
Sam
Joel
Pat
Prescott
Feka
Phelps
Tommy
And finally Carmont, god knows how we'll ever replace him the guy's walking around on one foot yet he's still head and shoulders above most other centre's in the league.
Final part of my rant:
If we want some success in the play-off's can we please have some ideas in attack.
End

| I had no real excitment going to the game and the game itself didn't do much to brighten me up.
Hull tried hard and we went through the motions for the majority of the 80 minutes. We had some decent preformers and showed some individual brilliance again from certain players.
We need to be and can be alot better come the big games in a couple of weeks.
Roll on the play offs.

| Second most boring game of the season after Bradford away. I guess Hudds next week might be a bit of a snore fest too if it's a dead rubber. Bring on the play offs!

That sums up my view very well, particularly Carmont who I thought was our best player by a mile. He certainly didn't disrespect the opposition and was as professional as ever. Our attack was very poor and out I think I would remove TL form your list of players who did well as I thought he was anonymous most of the game (particularly the first half) which contributed to our one dimensional attack .
I think we really need McIllorum back as he is another with the right attitude which would probably mean one of Mossop or Flannagan to miss out but I think we would be a better side with him back.
The pre match entertainment from that choir must have sent the players to sleep because that first half hour was down there with the worst of the games we have played this season. Thank God for Sam Tomkins and Fekas tries to put a smile on the fans faces as it was all very laboured.
Sat in the car the man on GMR asked was that a performance of a team likely to trouble the top two in the play offs? He then went on to make the excuse it was a bit end of term type play and players tried things they may otherwise have not. Whatever, the net result wasn't good to watch.

| Summed up pretty well really, Carmont was outstanding today, i wish he was 24 and we could have him for alot more years to come.
Poor defending at times but i've seen enough of our defence this year which gives me confidence that we can tighten it up for the playoffs.
What really stood out for me today is how much more better we play as a team when Tommy is at 9. I dont know whether thats because Riddell was underperforming today or whether Tommy just has no idea at 7 but at 9 he is just pure class.

Agreed, I would say it's a little bit of both, Tommy's clearly a 9 yet we play him at 7 because we have no one else to put there, and Piggy well what can be said, I want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and try and convince myself that he'll come good but so far I've been nothing but disappointed with him.

| I didn't think it was a poor game but it was very flat and Wigan didn't need much to beat Hull - which says a lot about them at the moment.

how was he poor? I haven't said he had a good/bad game, just that people need to look more closely. I didn't think he had a bad game at all but by no means was he poor. We was more dominant when we had both Feka and Fielden on the pitch which is also when Tommy was on the pitch, it makes it alot easier for the hooker/backs to look good then when the forwards get a roll on. Which by the way I'm surprised Fielden hasn't got a mention, I thought he went very well in making some good yards, winning the ground on every occasion and making some good offloads. I'm glad to see that he's put 3 back to back good performances in ready for the playoffs.

I'm not one of Riddell's knockers but I didn't even notice he was playing till about the 60 minute mark. Maybe that was down to talking and being bored out my skull so I wasn't paying attention. Snoozefest and a half last night. Thank the Lord for Sam Tomkins the only entertainment on show.
I'll put it down to having the week off and it being a bit of a dead rubber game but we are going to have to seriously pick it up going into the play-offs.

| Got to be honest I thought Tommy & Sam for the 1st 60 mins were Prdetty Poor!
Tommy was Very poor (And I think he's probably been our best/most consistant player this year) and I though Sam struggled to control the game and organise the players around him!
Ok he made the great break from his own half for Gleeson 1st half but other than that for the 1st 60mins I thought he was poor. (Again not having a Go before anyone says just trying to put some realism on his performance 1st 60 mins).
It chokes me to say it but What Daveo says earlier about McCollorum needing to come back in is spot on.
Whatever anyone thinks about the TL at 9 situation at the moment he is the best option we have at 7 with Sam at 6 and I think we need to keep that combo there for 80 mins.

Spot on MR!
1st 20/25 we made massive yards coming away from our line and Piggy directed em well.
The fact that Tommy & Sam couldn't do anything with it should't reflect too much on Piggy!
BTW
I'd like to see the stats for his 1st 25 min stint, I bet he made 20+ tackles!
I have been a touch disappointed with his creativity close to the line as I thought he could do more of a Jimmy Lowes type job for us there but pretty much every other aspect of his game as been an improvemnt on what weve had since Newton left for me.
His defence is great, he's a good organiser and apart from that shocking kick against Wire a couple of weeks ago he offers us a better kicking game from 9 when needed.

| It was never going to be the best game last night as Hull had not got a lot to play for and i think we came out thinking it was going to be a walkover. In the first half it looked like a training game with no real passion from either side. The Second half we came out to win the game and we did that in the first 10min then we went back into our shells. All in all i thought we looked a little rusty having had the week off should be a better game next week to get us up and ready for the play off games.

As far as Fielden is concerned, I'd agree - it doesn't fit with the general agenda on here because of his speculated wages, but he made plenty yards, was getting quick play the balls and put in a lot of work in the tackle. Together with Prescott, he was the pick of the forwards by doing a lot of the thankless work last night and laying the platform for a canter despite a misfiring attack. Feka will get the plaudits on a superficial level for his half breaks and offloads, but the hard work and graft in the team is elsewhere.

Exactly, it shows the improvement in the team over the course of the season - we were losing against Cas and Wakefield at the start of the year when we weren't firing on all cylinders. Last night we were always in control.
Good teams find a way to win, even when they perform poorly. Its inevitable we will have a poor showing from time to time, but finding a way to win regardless is a good sign. Rather play like last night at this stage of the season in an almost dead rubber, rather than in two weeks time.
I think some people forget what position we were in a couple of months ago. 9 wins out of our last 11 games in SL is encouraging to say the least.

| We got on a roll when Fielden, Feka and Mossop were on the pitch. That helped Tommy a lot, because in reality we had three props moving us forward.
Carmont, Roberts and Lockers were my top three. Lockers would probably be number pone if he hadn't dropped that ball over the lone in the first half.

I'm glad that there are some fans who actually do watch the game, I was also impressed with Mossop. Chuffed to bits that we have him at Wigan, he's going to be a huge player for us for years to come. Puts himself about all over the pitch and isn't afraid of anything that gets in his way.
