The number of teams in the playoffs and the structure of the playoffs is wrong though. I get the impression that is the opinion of the majority.

I like the playoffs in principle and the idea that's it now how you start but how you finish. But Leeds' win should serve as a warning that the current system is in danger of making the regular season almost meaningless and therefore unappealing to attend for the spectators.

Leeds won and fair play to them. We won the Cup, the main emphasis of the club in 2011 (like it or not).

When we are winning we never see a post from you as you have been shown up time and time again with your views. Then in a game that does not involve us you decide to slate our ethos and Madge a man who has transformed this club.

On the contrary, I feel that Leeds' win means that there is proof that a side outside the top 2 can win the "comp".

They grey area for me is what is seen as the "comp" by the powers that be. Is it the 27 weeks of fixtures, or the 4 weeks at the end with the playoffs? At the moment, there is too much neglect on the regular season.

The team who finishes top should be celebrated as much as the GF winners do now in my opinion. If Rovers ever finished first I can safely say I would be disappointed if they received a similar trophy presentation to that of Warrington's this year.

The league should be structured that they play 27 weeks, with the winner crowned Super League champions 20xx, wait 2 weeks and then have the 20xx Super League Playoff Series, 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5 and then have a simple bracket resulting in the Final at Old Trafford to crown the Playoff champion. Similar to the old Premiership trophy.

I see it more of praise for Leeds than criticism of Wigan.

At last a post I can respond to without feeling pity (and amusement over their lack of intellect) for the person that posted it.

I wasn't "critical" over the appiontment of Madge, I was worried that it was a gamble.

I have posted since that, imo, the "gamble" has paid off, and if you look at my posts, you will find that I have announced that I was delighted about this.

I do not seek to justify my views, my views are my own and do not need justification.

Back onto the current structure of SL, you cannot deny that the most successful coach under this system is Noble, and both McDermott and Lowes served under him (and presumably learned from him).

The regular season means very little. The playoffs are what it's all about and credit McDermott who understands this and exploits it to the max.

I go back to my original point and hope that the next Wigan coach does.

Now if anyone has an issue with that, then I feel sorry for them.

Everyone knows what they're playing for before the season and it's up to you how you manage it. It's not as if Leeds have purposely been playing pants all year just to lift in the last fee weeks but when your down and struggling as they were there comes a point where the pressure is releaved and you think 'sod it let's just chance out arm hete'. I think Leeds moment came in the final against us. It's only now I think I appreciate how well we did to scrape home in that second half against a side with a history of winning the tight ones.

Tonight makes our challenge cup win seem that bit more impressive.

Last year Madge brought with him an attitude to fitness, team building and "exploitation" (and I appluad him for this) of the rules that meant that Wigan were head and shoulders above any other team in the competition.

This year, teams were aware of this and were up to it.

The thing he didn't do was realise that the SL competition is not about the regular rounds, but all about the playoffs.

In year 1, he nearly failed. Wigan lost to Leeds. However, such was the impact of the points I mentioned above, Wigan progressed to win the GF.

In year 2 he did fail.

Not sure which bit's of that you don't understand, or how clearer I can be.
