Roberts has to play in the side next week wheather Deacon is fit or not. We looked short of pace and attacking threat from deep tonight and as much as Roberts would be a gamble he could bring us that.

Both Phelps and Amos were both on fire at FB until both got injured.

But you raise an even more important point. The team doesn't lend itself to re-arranging when ONE half back gets injured.

Given Deacons age and track record of injury, that isn't the brightest of moves by MM also. Cover for the threequarters was clearly needed on the bench.

His passing isn't good enough to be a centre. (But that try on Easter Monday when he played centre was something else!)

I think Phelps needs to be brought back if Deacon isn't fit. It's a choice between either Phelps or Roberts and I think of the two Phelps has been in the better form in the under 20's. Also, more importantly, Phelps seems just as comfortable at stand off and fullback, meaning Sam could play 1 or 6 which offers a little more flexibility. Plus, Phelps has something that is desperately lacking when Deacon isn't playing...a kicking game!
