| without trying to put a downer on it... as im glad there is a third game on the way.. it just looks to me like its a painted up version of rl 2 just with controls for the wii added. and that would explain why its not out for ps3 or 360. if i remember what i was told rightly the wii uses similar code etc to the ps2 so changing it over for a wii isnt as hard, whereas to get it onto a next gen console it would mean they'd have to start completely from scratch. and i doubt very much that sidhe have the resources/time to be doing that.

Not keen on the Willows as a Grand Final venue though.

Biggest driver for Wii only apparently was it being a cheaper platform to develop for than the ps3 or 360 in terms of fees. Don't know if it's true or not.

Maybe the Wii being the most popular games console in the world was a factor too.

| I had the first one when I had a PS2. Awful game, absolutely terrible. Nowhere near as good as FIFA or PES football games.

it just proves the success of franchising in the modern game.

| Average cost of a wii game to develop is between £750,000 and £2m.
Average cost of to develop a Ps3/Xbox360 game is £10m and £15m
Seeing as a rugby league game will hardly set the world a light in terms of sales then the Wii is the smart choice. Plus as someone has already said the code will hardly change from the Ps2 version meaning little effort and cost.
I'd be surprised if the game was much of an improvement over the ps2 version (and the recent Psp game.) Which leaves a hard choice, don't buy it as its not worth the cash OR everyone buy it to make other developers (EA) sit up and maybe think about releasing a game themselves.
I'll be buying it. If my Wii still works after 18months of being turned off.

| Just had a couple of games of this. The graphics are quite poor (yes, I know it's on the Wii) and the players look nothing like their real-life counterparts, in-fact Richards is actually bald/really blonde. That aside though, it is pretty fun if not-very-realistic. First of all, it's pretty much the end of '09 squads, so Wigan includes T.Smith, but also Gleeson. The ratings aren't great as you would expect from an NRL developer, Bailey is better than Gleeson at centre, though it's a RL game so technically positions pretty much go out of the window. The controls are also a bit strange at first (Nunchuck-controlled anyway).
In my first match I beat Leeds 10-6. First impressions were that it's quite impossible to play the old 5-drives and a kick routine and it's much more profitable to just throw it around anywhere. After injuring Peacock, JJB, Bailey and Lauititi, Leeds scored after Fielden of 09 naturally knocked on 20m from his own line. But I came back late in the second half with 2 good tries, Feka and Fielden combining brilliantly with 2 quick passes out wide sending Gleeson over in the left corner but I missed the kick so 6-4 to Leeds. Then the set after I just nailed it down field throwing passes everywhere, it must've gone to ground about 15 times and O'Loughlin touched it 5 times during one tackle passage. But in the end I broke Leeds down with Tim Smith rampaging through Leuluai and Senior to score under the sticks. Richards converted.
Anyways.. if you have a spare £40 or whatever it's definitely worth it. The game might even turn out to be a cult classic. Hours of fun are to be had on it, especially multi-player.
Btw, I thought I read somewhere that every stadium was included? Leeds' home ground is the KC Stadium and St Helens is Huddersfield. Nevermind..
edit: Oh and the whiny Aussie referee in the controller speaker is getting annoying. Can't find anywhere to turn him off..

So what controls/motions do you have to do to pass/run/kick etc?

(Using nunchuck + controller)
To run you just push the stick on the nunchuck around. There isn't sprint. At least I don't think there is. You just... run..
Flick the controller to the left or right to pass. Flick both nunchuck and controller to left or right to pass long.
To kick you hold down A to kick long then direct it with the nunchuck stick with flick the nunchuck upwards to kick it, or B instead if you want to do a chip kick. I think you can do a grubber aswell but I forgot how you do that.
You can also dummy, hold Z on the nunchuck and flick the controller either way. And you can shoulder charge/step but I forgot how you do those aswell.
