Rugby league legend Martin Offiah believes Wigan must show far more intent to sign quality players if they're to embark on a return to the glory days and has warned the change in coaches might not prove be the solution.

But yet the players who lost those 12 games were the same ones that had an excellent run towards the end of the season.

To me it’s proof that the squad is good enough but it was badly coached and prepared at the start of the season.

I think we could be 2/3 good signings away from lifting a cup. A full back/winger and a prop who can change a game.

Whilst I agree 12 losses is far too many and 6th was a very poor regular season, compared to previous seasons regular hammerings were not seen and that was an improvement. Most of the losses were close apart from Huddersfield in Round 27 when we had nothing to play for.

So at least we have moved forward in that regard but now we need to turn narrow defeats into wins and 2 signings is probably about right but I'm not sure they have to be "top quality". We just need a couple of players who will graft a good job.

A scrum half still remains a must for me. Leuluai is useful with ball in hand but his kicking game is very limited. Doing reports every week I've remarked time and time again that our tactical kicking game was poor and that was the difference in my view between 6th and the top 4 in the regular season and possibly the difference between a narrow semi final loss and a Grand Final in the play offs.

I still think Danny Brough would be the ideal 7 to Sam Tomkins at 6 (or the other way round). He's not "top quality" but he has all the skills required in the kicking department and would be the perfect foil for Sam. Stick Leuluai in at 9 and I think the balance is much better.

What about bringing Joe Mellor up from the reserves this season? Very impressed with what I've seen of him.

I don't know how easy it would be, but I think we need to find some way to get rid of Riddell.

I view him as the worst signing we've made in recent times. Not a complete and total disaster, but he was average at best last season, and now that we have TL and Mikey Mac, I see no reason to keep him. Of course, once a player's on contract, it's never easy.

Couldn't agree more. Pretty much what I and a few others have been saying. Wire at the minute seem more ambitious than us but if we were to pull off the signing of someone of the calibre of Graham then it would show we are going in the right direction.

Too young I would suggest. He only turns 19 next month and thus I think two rookie half backs would be a big gamble. If Sam still wasn't learning then maybe but I'd give Joe another year in the lower grades before looking at him.

I will challenge Martin to get through at least one interview or TV appearance without mentioning Richie Myler's name at least once! Surely it can't be done?

I think some fans could be eating their words re Piggy and Roberts, maybe they have been gash due to several reasons, The change in culture, arriving in wet and windy northern England and putting up with the gash weather through winter/spring and most of summer, training and playing to an out of date 2001 Bradford Bulls style set up, maybe just maybe, they will come good when they get back to training by the modern up to date aussie style of coaching.

Has he got two years left on his deal?

As harsh as it may seem the best option maybe to send Mcilorum out on a full season loan to one of the bottom clubs and then try to work Riddell out of his last years contract.

Shame we didn’t sign Dobbo instead of Smith when both were available as imagine Tomkins and Dobbo as our HB combo.

He is spot on. Value signings are all well and good, but at some point, you need to spend on a top quality player who will make the difference, I would hate to think we are paying Riddell & Roberts that kind of money.

We will win nothing with the squad we have.
