Commiserations to the lad, but will anyone actually notice?
Karl Pryce is the most invisible 6'6" man I have ever/never seen.

| Just means another period where he's not getting match fit. Hard lines on the guy, but an occupational hazard of the job.

| Top try scorer in the reserves.
Work in progress I believe is the phrase to be used.

| He is actually effective within the reserves and they will miss his presence, particulary the wingers outside him.

Thats the important bit, huge gap in playing level between reserves and first grade Brian.
He had a good game against Barrow, which seemingly is his current level. How patient should Wigan be?

As patient as we should be with any 22 year old in his first season back after being out for a year. Some of his reserve grade performances have been pretty good and has even become versatile enough to play a couple a games at stand off. That in itself shows progress he has made.
People were writing off Cameron Phelps a few weeks ago and look how quickily he's turned it around. Karl Pryce deserves the opportunity and time to prove himself, only then can he be disregarded.

But based in his first team performances, is he worth the wait?
Lets not forget Mathers looked good in some reserve games and look what happened with him.

Mathers has never looked good in reserve team games though.
Based on first team performances, one of the main weaknesses in regards to Pryce's game was fitness & reaction times... All things that can be worked on. His ability to score tries as been evident, but he needs to keep playing and working on his game and gradually gather fitness and pace.

I remember quotes on this forum about him playing well when he was moved to stand off in a reserve game.

His match fitness will take another step back if the 6 weeks out is correct. I just think that for the money he will be getting paid we can best use that in another area to strengthen the side, namely a prop. We are not short on backs once we have Goulding back and the signing of Gleeson.

He played better at stand off. Was certainly no better than Stuart Howarth who usually plays in that position.

It depends how much he's on really, though I don't expect it to be much. Although he'll miss match fitness, it really shouldn't effect him being able to keep fit. Hopefully he'll use this time to work on his fitness. Either way, he'll hopefully have more opportunities towards the back end of the season.

I can't recall seeing the incedent happening, but just remember his holding his head and walking off the field sheepishly. He went straight to hospital.
Aaron Murhpy suffered the worst injury...Dislocated wrist. Ouch.

He got a twisted sock fell over and hit his cheek on the touch flag in training whilst trying to avoid Big Sam Tomkins running at him at full pelt !
Wouldn't pay the guy in washers complete waste of skin.

He is a monster though
You can coach the players most skills but they'll never be able to coach effort and bottle into KP and thats a real shame.

| I think we should remain patient with him until the end of the 2011 season. The lad has played 4 games at first team level after 2 years out.
His timing and fitness are way off at the moment which is a major problem, but he has also shown signs with ball in hand against Les Cats that there is much to come for him when things click, which i am certain they will, sadly this is a major setback but its an occupasional hazzard i guess.
The way i see things he will not be given nor should he be given a starting shirt for next year, he will start as a first reserve and have to prove his worth which will only come with games.
2011 he has to have done enough to justify a starting shirt, by that time he will be 24 and should come in as a direct replacement for Carmont, if he has not made the shirt his and perhaps being out played by someone like Thornely then he should be released in my opinion.
The way things are going at the moment i see a real plan forming with regards our recruitment and development of players and continuity.
In the backs i see no reason in 4 seasons time why at the moment we could not be looking at.
1.
2.Ainscough
3.Pryce
4.Thornely
5
6.Tomkins
7.TL or whoever comes in in the off season.
I think there is an excellent stratergy being put into place at the moment by the club.

End of the day the guy has unquestionable talent and size and although some question his mental strength coming back from so many set backs at such a young age imo show’s he wants to play rugby.
The guy is ripping it up in the reserves and had a very good game at Barrow with increased fitness and game time he can be at the very least a good SL player on par with the likes of Walker, Calderwood, Toopi, Meli,Talu & Gardner who have all played in either the centre or wing position for SL winning sides but aren’t really great players in their own right.
If you put a WC centre next to him and he’ll be more than good enough for us.
