Trouble for Hull FC is most of their younger players coming through seem to go backwards rather than develop. Tom Briscoe being the exception.

I think he will go very very well for them.

He has all the tools at his disposal to be an excellent top class player, the main thing holding him back in my opinion was the environment he was in.

While others have pointed out Hull is not exactly renowned for for its development I think that simply getting away from Cas will be a real shot in the arm for him.

I was thinking a little long term and was wondering what would happen if Hoffman did only come for the year then return to the NRL and how I would have liked Westerman to be a target if such a thing did occur. In our environment I feel he could be a fantastic player.

I hope he now does kick on as he could very well be a great asset to England if he gets anywhere near his potential.

Very unprofesional away from the pitch and very average on it for 2 seasons. 150k? Great deal for Cas. He's young enough to fulfill his potential. He just needs to grow up and sort himself out.

Hopefully this will be the change he needs, having said that there may well be one or two bad influences at Hull going off reputations.

Was very good when he first came into the Tigers team - but seems to have let the talk about how good he is go to his head. Hasn't been that spectacular at Cas (in a very average team) and hopefully this move and being around seasoned Aussie pros will make him wake up. Certainly wouldn't get a place in the current Wigan pack

Cas got a great deal here it would be like us selling Tuson for about 90k

Good to see Cas getting some financial reward for bringing him through, especially as they lost out on Shenton.

Yeah, its good to see Cas being rewarded for their work bringing him through. Although that being said, I dont think he has his head in the right place at the minute and therefore is a risk at that price.

Really looking forward to seeing how he goes next year. I'm assuming he'll get the 13 shirt so a lot of pressure on him next year to justify his price tag.

First Shenton now Westerman you'd have to say if Owen fully recovers from his broken leg clubs will be chasing him as well, and rightly so as in my opinion as he's the pick of the bunch.

I think its a strange signing really, obviously I dont watch Cas every week, but never been that impressed, now its better that hull are signing a young lad with potential rather than a 28 year old, but am I alone in thinking Meh, when it comes to Westerman?

Perhaps its just proves the point that we as a comp are awesome at producing back rowers at the moment!

The good thing is, he is still under the radar, other teams and the media are obviously looking at the Tomkins brothers and don't realise this guy is such a threat with ball in hand and an absolute brute when defending. There was alot of pressure on Westerman after his first good season, people were saying he was Englands next star and thats alot of pressure, Farrell doesn't seem to have that, which I am chuffed about.

Very overated in my opinion, tackle machine but very average with ball in hand.

Who would ever sign to play for a team coached by Richard Agar? Worst coach in the league that bloke, Westerman was quality at 17/18, doesn't really seem to have developed that well. Would be about 6th choice in our back-row!
