Hello Saints fan here in peace.

I have to say that the effort and passion Sean O'Loughlin showed in the grand final was excellent. He pretty much played the whole game on one leg after coming into the game with an injury. I was unimpressed when he was named England captain but after that performance it is hard to disagree with the appointment now.

A lot happened during that game that made it easy to forget that the game was a tough competition played by two tough teams and two great clubs.

Us Saints fans know that the heart break of defeat is much stronger emotion than the joy of victory, especially when you expect to win. Our loss to you lot at Murrayfield in 2002 is probably the parallel to what you must be feeling now. However that loss was used as motivation to future success and I am sure that will be the same for Wigan.

It may seem hard now but keep your chins up, because with the strength of Wigan and Saints squads and the great juniors coming through both clubs, that won't be the last derby final in the next few years. So you will have your chance to get us back in the near future.

Remember things could always be worse. You could all be Wire fans and never get to see your team win anything!!!

Lockers does have a tendency to do high shots IMO

I think the future is bright for us. We're not as dirty as people would like to believe and the sport will move on from Saturdays mess. Whether Flower will, I don't know. I hope so because he's a good player.

He did one on Saturday Pete. That's the first in the playoffs to my recollection. I'm not sure when the last one in the regular season was but I'm pretty sure there wasn't one in the Wire game and I'm struggling to remember any in the Leeds game. You may correct me if I'm wrong. He generally does 35-40 tackles per game (over 50 against Huddersfield!) so in the last 4 or 5 games he's made 170+ tackles with one high shot. Let's call it 2 just in case I missed any. Masoe did more than that in the few minutes he played in the GF! I think 'tendancy to do high shots' is overstating the case somewhat, don't you?

He must get away with them then as IMO he goes high a lot. Did Mose get done for any high tackles Saturday ?

Pretty sure he did yes, but even if he didn't, he probably got away with them

You see this is typical of how fans don't see the bad tackles of their own players. Masoe was penalised for a high tackle on the second tackle of the game! He tried to take Gelling's head off with both arms! Which proves that it is only Wigan who tackle aggressively!

True about Masoe. He was on a mission and playing right on the line, and overstepped it a couple of times, but apparently it's only Wigan that does that.

Although this isn't backed up by any facts, visits to disciplinary, penalty counts, etc. I guess if enough people say it then it must be true. . . . .

Watch the game again and on 1:22 Mosoes tackle on O'Loughlin. If it had have been any later he would have missed the bus home.

You also forgot to mention the swinging arm of S.O.L on Walmsley. And yes Saints lost 5 grand finals, but you have to reach the G.F. to lose it, Oh yes you didn't make it that far did you?.

Just like our eight challenge cups in a row, I can see Saints record for losing five grand finals in a row standing for a very long time. Surely the odds are massively against a team bottling it so consistently

Just pointing out consecutive appearances in finals. Wigans, 8 with 8 wins, Sts 5 with 5 loses.
Both records which are unlikely to beaten.

One of the records is talked about, the other is laughed at...
