Quote ="NickyKiss"The players and their amazing ‘banter’ brought about this system because they couldn’t be trusted to vote properly, even for an award in the name of a legendary man like Steve Prescott. It absolutely needs a rethink and your idea isn’t a bad one. You could give each head coach, each club captain and a panel of journalists a vote each maybe and work it out that way. Maybe even involve the refs and give them a vote.
If they did it that way this season and the vote ended today, Jai Field would win it using that system, the current one or any other you choose but as you say, there is no way McShane was MOS last season.'"
The current system means a good player in an average side has a good chance of winning it. Names off the top of my head are Lino, Lolohea, Abdull. All good players but none of them are in the top 10 in the country.
