He's stood in well at centre this year, he's had some good games, he's had some poor games. What we shouldn't have is our most experienced player on the field seemingly doing anything he could to get sin binned or sent off. It's phenomenally dumb play but it's expected. You only have to look back at our last game against Saints to see what a liability he is in games like this.
About 10 minutes before Isa got sin binned it was blatantly obvious that he was headed there. That's when Lam should have taken him off for his own good but he was content to just let it happen.
He's up there with Singleton, Hardaker and Clubb in terms of our experienced players letting the team down through utter stupidity. I could sort of expect those antics from the younger players who don't have the experience and might not have learned their lessons about losing their cool, but not a 32 year old.
For all the benefits we get from him he's still a player not good enough to start in his preferred position, prone to defensive lapses and prone to lose the plot in heated games. I don't know why the club aren't looking to move him on and invest in a specialist centre for next year as that's the only position he'd realistically be useful for.
He's hardly the first player to lose his head in a derby. At least he showed some passion. No need for an apology IMO, wouldn't want him feeling like he can't play on the edge next time around either.
