The official capacity is 5,000, but because of the state of the stadium which has been badly maintained since it was bought by IL, especially the poor state of the terracing, there is a restriction of 3,000 in force.
Actually, it was the intention of IL to sell the site for housing, but from what I understand the planning application was turned down by the Council on the grounds that access to the site would not be good enough for a housing development.
It would therefore appear to be the reason why IL has had to look at other alternatives in order to sell the site.
