Quote ="DaveO"How can he have bought well if the recruitment is down to GH? There is a contradiction there.
What caught my ear was as I said what GH said about recognising the injuries Leeds have and the success under McDermott Leeds have enjoyed and still bing in the cup but yet he still decided it was time for change. That argument applies to Wigan IMO as well under Wane. Has had success (though less than McDermott as you say over a similar period) and for many that success made his tenure unquestionable. Looks like McDermott thinks the same over his exit as that but for others the success does not equate to unquestionable loyalty.
It may be a valid argument GH has stifled McDermott of decent players following the departure of former greats but even with injuries that Leeds side that turned up last Thursday was very poor and a fair few looked like a caricature of and old fashioned RU prop with more flab then muscle. So the point is he failed to make the best of what he has. Similar charges could be laid at Wane's door (though not fitness levels that is for sure). We spend a fortune and still have substandard play a lot of the time and have prospered because some sides are even worse (which now includes Leeds). Both coaches have on paper been successful but both have had their own fans complaining despite this for a while now. Wigan swapping Wane for McDermott won't inspire many to buy a season ticket.'"
