Never realised you were that old, Cruncher!

My older brother went with my dad in 65 - it was 66 before I went for the first time as a 7 year old. Saw the 65 final on TV and remember seeing it shown a year or so later in a church hall on a big screen! I was thus in my mid 20s before I saw Wigan win the cup in 85 (defeats also in 70 and 84). That's why 88-95 was so sweet!

As for Rogues,always presumed he was an "old geezer", albeit very knowledgable!!

I went with a mate on a Smiths of Wigan coach, two months short of my 15th birthday, our mums only agreed to let us go if the coach came back straight after the match! How times change.

This is when I got bitten, very badly, by the Rugby League bug.

I can still remember Ray Ashby making a break ending with Trevor Lake diving over in the left hand corner. One of the best Wembley tries.

Went down to Wembley in a friends car, with no motorways.
Took forever.
2-0 up after no time with a Laurie Gillfedder penalty.
A long time ago but some great tries scored.
First joint winners, I think, of the Lance Todd between Ray Ashby and Brian Gabbitas of Hunslet.

Im just about to watch my DVD of that very game

That was the first time I watched Wigan win at Wembley after seeing us get beat in 1963, we still have the ball used in that game(1965) at the DW stadium.
