We'll have to see how Madge wants to let him back in the team: whether he gets a couple of runs out with the kids, or goes straight back in to SL. He hasn't had a full contact match in over two years, so although he has bulked up and kept fit, there is no way he will be ready for the pace and 'hardness' of that level.
As to the Widnes thing, I know they are back in SL next year, but when those guys are playing for an SL contract, you'd expect them to be top of the league, not going for mid-table mediocrity! It also makes our sport look a little amateurish, when the team that finishes top of NL1 gets fook all, and the team that finished outside the top four got automatic promotion.
