Simmons could turn out to be a revelation at Saints. But there's a real strong feeling of John Dorahyitis about this appointment.
One thing's for sure, he's no Mal Meninga and he's no Craig Bellamy. They were the names being banded around a few months ago.
Saints fans are currently making great play of him once running five marathons in five days to raise recruitment money at Hull. At 51, I doubt he'll be doing that again. But who knows, maybe Cunningham, as the new fitness guru, can step into that role.
