Sam Tomkins has won the Albert Goldthorpe Rookie of the Year Medal at a ceremonial lunch hosted by League Express at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
The medal, which is solid silver, is awarded to the Rookie (defined as a player who played ten or fewer first-team games before the start of the season) who is adjudged to have made the biggest impact on the game in the regular Super League season.
Sam, 20, made his Super League debut this season, playing 20 matches so far in the regular Super League season.
His award was presented by Steve and Donna Walker, the parents of Leon Walker, the Wakefield rookie who tragically died in a reserve-team game in Maesteg in March.
Sam also received a cheque for £500.
The Albert Goldthorpe Medal itself was won by Hull Kingston Rovers star Michael Dobson, who led his team to fourth place in the final Super League table, and played in all 27 of his side's Super League matches.
Ray French was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contribution to Rugby League as a player, journalist, broadcaster, Chairman of the British Lions Association, and for his support of amateur and student rugby league.

Cant imagine why anyone would vote for the main driving force behind Wakefields fifth placed finish.

He will have picked 3 points up in the first game of the season without any shadow of a doubt.
