I did mine too aged 21. I was in plaster for almost 8 weeks.

I have done mine about 5 times in the last 10 years too. Each one as a result from falling over on my @r$e in different situations (ice, drunk, wet floor, wet shoes ...). 6 weeks should be plenty for it to heal and also the off season to have good physio to enable him not to be prone to reoccurring scaphoid damage too.
