| How can a crowd of 44,000 plus attend an international game in London (England played like the Broncos yesterday) and our club are lucky if the attendance is 400?

| Quite probably several reasons, how many kiwis made up that 44000 why would they cone watch broncos. ? How many curious neutrals were at that games were there, eg ru fans why would they watch week in week out? How many, wigan Warrington, Leeds Bradford, saints fans were there? Why would they come to watch broncos.?
Look at our crowds before we dropped into championship they were never that good, take into account reduction in away fans that does not help.
Our last season in SL we won one game, only die hard fans keep coming.
Besides you are not really comparing like for like are you?
Did u go yesterday?

| Because it's a big event. London RL games aren't. The RU world cup sold out numerous games in London. Nearly all their pro team have moved out of London for similar reasons. Also the abysmal mis-management and marketing of London RL off the pitch has stuffed up what chance it had of working sadly.

| No way was there 44,000 bums on seats.
I'd estimate the crowd was circa 30,000.
& does anyone really need an explanation as to why Broncos can't draw flies.

| I took two RL newbies, one a curious RU fan and another a skeptical football fan. Both enjoyed the event (shame about the game itself) but would never be likely to go to a Broncos game.

Interesting - I've read a lot of comment on yeaterday's game and you are the first person to doubt that there were over 40k there - what inside information do you have that no one else does? Or you just making it up?

| Believe the ground can hold 54,000. If around a quarter empty then 40,500. Doubt 44,000 (20% empty) would look that much different to the naked eye.

| The west side of the ground was very sply populated.
Looked like some hospitality & not much else.
Not sure why anyone's irked at my estimate.
Circa 30,000 for League in London is good regardless.

| I accept people pull stunts - the gate Wigan declared at Millwall seemed high - non attending season ticket holders perhaps - I don't believe the RFL would inflate a figure by 50%. They would stand look idiotic if someone served a freedom of information request on the Metropolitan Police - as has been done re Premier League football and if I know that I'd hope the RFL do.

| Before I get accused of libelling the RFL I don't doubt the declared attendance is the amount of tickets sold or otherwise issued.
But after many years of watching Broncos I know wide open spaces when I see them.

Well done for helping spread the word.
As has been touched on elsewhere on here, there is a big difference between a sport 'event' and a run of the mill fixture. Union used to stage the 'London Double Header' (always a bit of a joke considering that Harlequins were the only team playing in London for many years), which used to fill Twickenham every year. Having been a few times I can hand on heart say that I never met a single person who was a season ticket holder, or regular attendee of ordinary club fixtures. They were happy to go to the big event but not interested in regular attendance.

Good point.
Another point to consider on the attendance – community clubs were in a position to sell tickets pretty cheap. I know several families/couples who just didn’t turn up, probably looked at the appalling weather and the on cost of getting there and decided to write off the ticket costs. That’s the risk you run by selling tickets at ‘giveaway’ prices.

| We're you at the game cowgirl? Have a look at the TV interview with issac how many folk were in the stand? Not many, why because they had all got up and left the stadium, it's what happens at every game game ends one team loses one team wins, not many people stay to listen to the interviews especially supporters of losing team or neutrals.
The picture on the link shows a bunch of players trudging round the pitch after the game, watch it on TV, think you will see it was a good 10 mins before they actually left the pitch.
Pretty sure you can find a similar picture with Wigan players at old Trafford in Oct, empty stand behind em! Does not mean it was empty during the game, in fact it was virtually full.
I am used to going to big stadiums, no reason to doubt the crowd figure was 40k plus, besides can't see the point they would make up a numbet

| I was at the game and I am sure the crowd stated was correct there were a lot of people there. I think wantawin uses tongue in cheek humour or maybe he/she is fishing whatever he got a few going. But on the serious side look what can happen when you market a game

There you go again making something up & pretending I said it.
But for your benefit (even though you'll probably ignore it) I never said 40,000 tickets weren't sold but from the evidence of my eyes no way was there 40,000 bums on seats.
An entire stand was virtually empty & there weren't many behind the sticks either.

| Marketing is one thing, but as it's been said on here by others you cannot compare it like for like, navy army ru fill Twickenham army raf ru game will get virtually no one, it is a lot to do with the occasion
The ru double header at Twickenham they fill it!
Rl grand final virtual full house, why is Salford not the same every home game.
Cowgirl, get over yrself mate, all I said was why would they make up a number, I said they that means the game organisers not you. Your opinion fine! My opinion is 40 plus pretty accurate for what I saw

| Good try.
I said near empty stand.
Everyone knows declared attendances aren't the same as actual attendances.
Except it seems some Broncos fans whose propensity to believe in fairy stories is unequalled.

Yes I was at the game, I thought there was over 40,000 there.
It would be great if Broncos could get 10% of that crowd every week, I know fans want to support a wining team which is one reason why the Broncos crowds have dropped, but is it the marketing of the Broncos or lack of it which is not making lost fans and people aware what is happening at the club. I think crowds will drop again at Ealing because of the lack of seating and no public transport on a Sunday.
I thought the cost of tickets was brilliant for an International perhaps the club should look at selling tickets cheaper so that they get more people to come along to the games. The cost of tickets for championship games at the Hive was far to high.
