Quote Broncos add Battye for 2016
London Broncos Rugby League is pleased to announce the signing of forward Eddie Battye from Sheffield Eagles on a two-year deal.
Battye, 24, has been with the Eagles for the past eight years, with a spell at Villeneuve Leopards in France during 2012, he returned to the Eagles in the subsequent season which was seen as his breakthrough year. Battye has played in 72 games for the Eagles during his time at the club.
“I am really looking forward to getting down to London and joining the Broncos,” said Battye. “It was a massive decision for me and is going to be a big change and a challenge I am looking forward to.”
“It will be great to work under Hendo (head coach Andrew Henderson) as I have a lot of respect for him as player and as a person from his time at Sheffield and he helped me a lot. Hopefully he can continue to develop my game as head coach, he has a lot of knowledge of the game and I hope to learn as much as I can.
“It has always been a goal of mine to become a full time rugby league player and I am hoping being part of a full time environment will bring me on as a player. In 2016 I want to keep developing as a player and be as successful as I can at London.
“I still have a job to do with Sheffield and I aim to finish this season as strong as I can with them. Sheffield has been a great club for me and being there since I was a 16 was hard decision to leave and wish Mark and the club all the best in the future.”
Andrew Henderson said of Battye: “Eddie is a great acquisition for the club and he’s come through a good system at Sheffield and is now an established player at this level. I’m really excited that he’s decided to join us.
“He’s tough, robust and very skilful for a prop. He’s had a really good season this year with Sheffield as one of their standout front-rowers, I know he was offered to stay at Sheffield and attracted Super League interest but he felt that the time was right for a new challenge and saw that London was the best opportunity to further his career.
“He’s keen, hungry to do well and wants to become an even better player. These are some of the values I’m looking for in players I recruit.”'"

| He's a prop which unhelpfully is all I know about him. Interestingly he seems to indicate the club will remain full-time next season which is a positive if we can utilise that advantage.

| Hendo must know him, so must rate him. We need better players. Is he better, I hope so! Have to be convinced.

| He's not much of a line-breaker but he is a workhorse. You need an Eddie Battye type player in every good squad.

| He is a prop, which has to be good. Henderson must know him and therefore believe he can contribute.
All in all has to be a positive move, we need forwards and a workhorse will do!

| He came through sheffields academy, played in around 16 games this year mostly from the bench. Has been MoM three times so not shy of putting some effort in. At least a few Sheffield fans seem surprised he's left. Very few northerns seem to have the aptitude for 3 hours away from home so welcome and good luck to the guy.

| He spent some time playing in France, so you would expect that the homesick thing would not be a problem, but you never know.

| Lets hope Eddie will settle a be the start of building a strong pack, we do need to think a little more glass half full instead of always half empty, everyone is different and needs to be at least given a chance. Our payment next year from the RFL will go down so we are not going to able to buy and bring in Super League Top Players, that's just being realistic.

| Whilst strengthening the forwards is essential, surely half backs & hooker are where we should be looking next??!

Just thought I will give you 30 seconds break from reading about the slagging off of your owner - unnecessarily in my opinion - and show you the stats for Eddie in his last game for the club he agreed to leave some time ago. This was against Super League opposition and full time opponents while Eddie,at this time, isn't.

Oi, this is a private squabble supposedly among friends.
Not that you'd know it given the amount of grassing up going on.

| Given that he had nothing much to play for in that game. He seemed to have put himself about a bit.
My thoughts on him are, Hendo must know all about him and consider he can do a job for us.
