| Resigned this morning - Grima takes over according to Twitter. I thought he would be the last man out.
Good luck to Tony, a good decision for the club, I suspect without him last Winter we would not have a club.
A further bit from Ian Ramsdale on Twitter : Chairman David Hughes credits Rea for being "instrumental in saving the club" last year.

| Grima in temporary charge according to Martyn Sadler
Martyn Sadler @MartynSadler 2m
Tony Rea quits as @LondonBroncosRL coach. Not really surprising. Joe Grima takes temporary charge. But who will coach them in the long run?

Really?
Thought the writing was on the wall a couple of weeks back.
The real question now is, will there be a club next year?
Seemed like sky treated last Thursdays game as an advert for the few talented players we have left.

| After the 'No fear for the future' interview [urlhttp://www.spreaker.com/user/ianramsdale/rlds-no-fear-for-the-future[/url by Tony Rea it seems to make more sense. It was more of a good luck with the future interview.
Total RL says there has been a press release [urlhttp://www.totalrl.com/tony-rea-leaves-london-broncos/[/url anybody got a link to the press release in full?
Nothing ever stands still. Either RL in the Northern Hemisphere is expanding in France /Wales/ Southern England or it is contracting. Tony Rea always got the London and expansion concepts and the set backs must have made it hard the last few years.
Good luck Tony you were always pushing in the right direction.

It was the right time for Tony to go, resignation is dignified, I hear it was always intended that Grima would be head coach next season, just takes over earlier than planned?? cutting the cloth ready for next season.

| Wondered why he looked so happy and relaxed on SSN last night.
Good luck to him. no matter what people think of him. IMO I feel having him here when the ship was sinking couldn't have been better timed. Any other coach there at the time would have been packing his desk along with the players (even long before the players if honest). but with TR we had a voice who had DH's ear to say "look I know its bad, I know you don't want to throw any more money at it, but come on give it ago for one more season, after everything you put into it"
Good luck for the you and the family TR and thanks for all your help.....
Well good luck to Joe Grima. yes we all know he need it. Maybe just maybe DH will slip him a couple of quid to get one a prop or two. You never know he might know of someone going spare down under...

They should have let him do it this season then. Maybe Grima could have got a few players of his own choice and made a decent fist of this season and he would have had a chance of coaching a SL team next season

I thought Tony "resigned" I think he has done okay out of David Hughes over the years! of he got a pay off for a few months service, if I was him I would take the money and just GO!
I wish Tony all the best, never like to see anyone have to leave, but he should Never have been retained after he came back to rescue us, a few wins got many carried away, his best days had gone.

| Feel this is the right decision by Tony.
He's kept us alive as a club & taken the flack off Joe Grima while he settles in & finds out what an uphill struggle he's let himself in for.
Wish Tony & his family all the best for the future in whatever course he chooses to take.

| The right decision but, in the round, TR has been one of the finest employees the club has had. It will be a shame if he leaves the club completely. Let's hope this Hall of Fame thing comes off and TR is one of the first to be recognised.

| He was so pro-London it was ridiculous.
Now he has gone, just so people know and not tar him with a gus brush, he was asking about recruitment from as early as August last year. His hands were tied re money and our existence, and we missed out on some players as a result. We then were in the awkward position of having to sweep up players where we could. Don't ever think he did nothing about this when he was all along.
I also recall him in 2000 coming over here and letting me interview him which was put on the old site. He came round my flat and spent about 90 mins talking about London with a passion that was so clear.
Of all the good and bad things said about him and what he has done and did. He was always doing things with the intention to benefit us. That's what I'll thank hm for.

| As an outsider looking in I can't see anything but looking into the future in the Championship. Switching coaches at this time in the season especially when your lads have been improving (a win will come soon!) is a bad idea. He was just starting to get them to play how he wanted. Also reports said Rae would have rather stayed on. Good luck rest of the season guys.

| I am really upset about losing this great man who is the heart and soul of London Rugby League.
He has been badly let down.
In the backs he has pretty much a full suite of reserve/academy players with his first choice fullback and wingers (Mataitonga, Dixon and Duckworth) never available.
At half back in the main he has again untested kids.
In the forwards he has a reasonable set of backrowers but the smallest and youngest front row in the competition.
That is down to David Hughes and Gus Mackay and the full year of faffing around.
If you look at the players who first played Super League at the Broncos or left in recent years we could have had a team like:
Dorn, Dixon, Sarginson, Sykes, Caro, Soward, T.Leuluai, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, T.Lee, Clubb, Bailey, Vea, Cook
But in 2009 and 2013 Hughes wobbled.
We should be able to give Tony a send off this weekend.

| Rooster booster ... Wise words. I chatted with tony a few times last year and it was clear that he was building a new team long before the season ended. He wasn't promising the earth but hoped to finish in a safe place for next year.
Sadly the cock up that was the post season pretty much destroyed any chance of rebuilding.
In my experience tony is/was a good man who cared passionately about the broncos and importantly he understood and cared about the supporters.
Good luck tony.

| Tony Rea was a great club man as Rooster and others have said.
The last time I met him he was still involved in Union in Australia, but we spent ages discussing London and he knew results etc., and you could see that the situation was painful to him.
The reason this Club is that the people that own and run it don't have Tony's passion.
Thanks Tony.

| One thing Rea was very good at was selling the club, it's position in the UK RL World and what it's short history meant. I cannot measure him as a coach as I never played for him, that is for others to judge, but he certainly loved this club.
