gutterfax et al need not bother. Maybe you and Paddock can start your own forum with that utter bore Cowboy Nostalgia.
This board has been an absolute shambles over the past few months, utter misery. Time to get things back ticking over for those that love Rugby League and don't have personal vendettas.
Today was the most positive day in memory (not that you chaps would know). Roll on the rest of the season

The rugby league fans of France would be interested to know in what way a severe loss, in front of only 1,200 fans, was so positive.

Everything is relative JC. On the surface, not good, but bear in mind 4 months ago we looked like we were extinct, had no ground, no players, a skeleton staff. At least we got on the field, were moderately competitive, there was a good vibe around the place. There's more reasons to look forward now, and some hope we might win a game or two.

| To all those who despair - I was part of the (then?) lowest Widnes crowd of 1,500. I guess that was late '60s. Within a few years we were known as "cup kings" and then went onto to a successful era culminating in becoming world champions. That early success was built on a crop of talented local lads coming through at the same time supplemented by some older players brought in at the back end of their careers. London could be on the brink of something similar with the kids coming through - it will take a bit of patience and good management but things could be achieved. I worry that relegation, lack of funding, etc could just come at the wrong time to undermine all those SL years of development work? That would though be consistent wigh Rl history in other parts of the world.

| Really enjoyed it. A young set of players lifted their performances from round 1 and were rewarded with some noise from the crowd - good to hear the fans getting on the ref's back for once. A pristine, well-appointed ground. Good atmosphere, even with 1250 - 3500+ for, say, Leeds will be fantastic I imagine.
I am looking forward to going back, especially with Solomona, Farrar, Drinkwater, Slyney, Dollapi and maybe Vea available for selection. They need these reinforcements fast but with them the team will be on par with the rest of the bottom 6.

| I think part of the reason it was so enjoyable, was that for whatever reason: the past months of uncertainty, the previous week's performance etc etc, there were little or no expectations.
To see the players trying to the last whistle even though there was no chance of getting the two points was a complete difference to what we saw last season at the Stoop, so yes, it was enjoyable.
Yes, there were teething problems (none of which can't be sorted) and a clock on the East Stand would be great, but more hopeful that we can compete with the sides we need to compete with than I was 24 hours ago.

| I think now the season is up and running PP and GF's offerings will tail of.
GF is a one trick pony, turning attendance figures in its simplistic form into a business plan for a RL club. That doesnt matter any more as AK gets the revenue, DH pays wages, TR picks the team and Gus?. His infamous 20 point plan now dies in the land of the white cloud as there is no roundabout at the Hive. It makes no difference if no one turns up.
PP's anger centres on the redundancy of some eye candy from the days at the Stoop which Gus manufactured. See Gus's influence going forward above, it sort of weakens his argument as Gus now has 'no role' to play.
Good bye guys. Enjoy your new interests.

Welcome Back!
Over the years we may not always have agreed Dave, but I always Respected your opinions. At the end of the day all we should be here for is to see our club do well, and be United to achieve that, not get personal continually..
Yesterday I spoke to a few fans, I don't know, and they asked if I knew a forum for the club, I told them about here, and one said don't ever go there! to the others, how sad! when it is sport we love.

I didn't say you didn't attend, it was more to deflect your constant anti-Gus drivel to a place where it would be more appreciated.
And I will be reporting your offensive slight to a moderator.

Perhaps he thought I was slighting the entire Tyke Nation?
& I still don't get the prevailing "Be Nice to Gus" vibe.
& yes ignoring him counts as being nice.

Depends if other investors see the quality facilities at The Hive and decide to invest. Maybe we could do a Salford if potential investors see the untapped London RL market and facilities already set up at The Hive. Who knows, but best to give it a shot aye...

| Glad to see this thread. Couldn't make the match yesterday but will definitely be at the Wire match.
Any players stand out individually? Seen a few negative things about "Nesi" and positive about Gigot & Cunningham. Fair comments?

| I had a chilli con carne in the Amber Lounge, and it was spot on. I like the ground. A few teething issues, but nothing major, already dropped an e-mail to the commercial manager at the Hive with a few suggestions.
On the park, the kicking game was a real positive, and it was good that they played for the full 80. On the minus side I still ended up shouting at JOC to watch his wing, will he ever learn?

Nice to hear some more positives. Its early days so it will take time to get used to how things work and where to go to get things but im sure it will all fall into place. My biggest problem was figuring out who the players were at a distance.
Gigot has always had a big kick on him and we definately got the benefit yesteday. Hopefully we can get our short kicking game and the 'follow up' sorted and get some tries from them.
