| Wish Rob the Best, he needs to be involved with the game, lots to offer, further evidence the money the few Top Clubs have to spend on development, while many clubs have to cut back.

I do think that the choice was very much Rob's own decision, and the club supported him, after such a tragedy in his family, that is why he wanted to return to Cumbria, this new post, will be based in Cumbria.

| Good luck to Rob is his new role. Keeping his involvement has got to be good news. Well done to Wigan too for the foresight they are showing.

| What's deeply depressing is no one in London had the foresight to use Rob as an ambassador. The club's attitude and total lack of co-operation to his testimonial was evidence enough of their view. We have had some great players and some shocking CEOs, totally out of their depth, Brown, Hogg, Mackay all a waste of time. It's partly why we are where we are - Tommy Lee our best signing moving on, and Kaufusi thinking Crusaders represent a better opportunity than London

Harsh in the extreme on Paul Brown. I believe he did the spade work for our franchise, and as we all know
had to leave due to ill health before he had the opportunity to leave his mark.
We will never know of course but id suggest he would have made a decent fist of CEO
at the Broncos, unlike some.

We might have approached him, you don't know. It comes back to the age-old issue though of northern players not wanting to come down and make the move to play for us. The club may have taken the view that having Rob as an ambassador could be a real asset but if players were unwilling to take the plunge and move down south then it was a bit of a pointless exercise.

| Great to see Purdo back in RL as he has a lot to offer.
However, sounds a bit like Wigan attempting world domination (not a great analogy, but you know what I mean).
Would much rather see talented Cumbrians playing for a Cumbrian SL team
(or London!)

| Wigan, until recently, had a scout permanently based in Cumbria but he recently passed away. So i'm guessing that they were always going to be on the lookout for a replacement and Rob, with his connections to the amateur game up here, fits the bill nicely for them.

Agreed. Smart bloke, and I think would have done a good job if it weren't for the health issues. Blanchard, for all the stick he gets from some quarters on here, also steered the club through a difficult time with the IL share issues when Hughes previously threatened to pull out back in 2010.
But no doubt that Hogg was no use, and Mackay has proactively driven the club to the edge of extinction through a combination of complete stupidity, arrogance and total incompetence. If a decent appointment had been made at the time Mackay was appointed, the world might look very different now.

Brown was a spot on selection as CEO.....were it not for his ill health, we would not be in the crapper we are today!

| good luck Rob, good to see him back in the game at a decent level.
Rob was an excellent servant for the club, and when his time came to go back home no-one could blame him and we all understood why. Rob did it at the right time and in the right way.
Why would we need an ambassador in Cumbria???
