I volunteered to work to setup an independent supporters trust after the Fans Forum. Just to inform this forum I have made a start, and PMed those who expressed an interest with the progress so far. NK could you outline you thoughts on what it is that the supporters organisation actually is.

Glad to outline thoughts here - the process is only just starting though so I don't want to post a commentary on this forum - it won't be a success if only people who come here are involved! I did PM people who've expressed an interest - I expect to setup better lines of communications over the coming weeks.

I'm hoping for more discussions with the club over the coming weeks to see what they are looking for from a supporters organisation - but the broad principles that I think the organisation would be based on are

[listas wide a membership as possible
one person one vote
predominately internet based, given our wide geographic spread
dedicated to giving a single voice for supporters into the club
working towards supporter involvement in decision making; ultimately possible supporters director and a supporters stake in the club[/list:u

I DON'T see it as cutting across the good work of existing volunteers, or as a set of "super supporters" in fluorescent jackets at home games.

You say one person one vote- Could you give examples of what it is members may be voting for.

Im not familiar with this type of set up and exactly what it is they do or achieve

Too early to say really! The point really is that I would see a standard membership fee giving the vote - those of us who may want to give more generously may do so but would still have just the one vote.

Good to see this starting to get off the ground.

Might be a good idea to get onto the legion, they are the NRL's newest supported group (for the youngest team). They are easily approachable and I have spoken to a leader of it many times about a number of things.

They may be able to help you guys and give suggestions that helped them to start up. They also done a lot of research amongst other supporter groups before starting there's. I could get onto them for you if you guys would like?
