Not really. Gale has only intermittently impressed during his time here, and IMO still has some way to go before convincing anyone he's a Top 8 standard stand-off. His defence also desperately needs work.

Having said that, it is a bit of a shame that we've let him go in exchange for a 33-year-old Aussie coming in. And Mick Potter is a good coach, who's worked with the likes of Stacey Jones and Thomas Bosc, so there's potential for Gale to flourish up there if their pack ever sorts itself out.

We are in need of scrum halfs/stand offs and we let our own go? Started off the season as our best player by miles and has played all 22 games this season. He is our only kicker meaning we have put a lot of pressrue to sign a new kicker for next year.

Indeed, what has possessed the Bulls ? We have already pushed Sykes, Worrincy and Sherriffe in your direction. Gale can't boss a game and is not creative enough in the opposition 20m and a bossy, creative half back is what we require, so I guess we have a new recruit coming in to fill Gale's sandals.

The loss of Ellis would be a whole different story.

No mention of a fee being paid anywhere, but wasn't Gale contracted up to 2012?

Luke made it clear his family wanted to return nearer to home, anyway Dave "Nosey Parker" was wrong again as last Monday which I posted he said it would be Hull!

I think Luke has done a fair job for us as did Paul Sykes, not everyone is going to be a star for 80 minutes in a game, in fact in any sport very few all good all the time, but Gale did turn some games for us.

Nice dig at our crowds on the way out as well. Nice to know he appreciated his time at the club that gave him his super league chance. Tosser.

Not overly bothered by Gale's departure....If rumours of Gower coming are true he easily covers the slight hole Gale leaves. Even if we only got Gower for a year, that would give him the chance to give us some direction and allow him to pass on his vast experience to Dan Sarginson (who I still think we should offer a 5 year deal to now). Sarginson is the future in my opinion from 2013 onwards....Gale won't really be missed. No beef with Gale, he is entitled to his opinion, hope he goes well at the Bulls....think they have more than a half back issue to sort out themselves!!

Exactly, he evidently hasn't / hadn't bought into the long term vision of the club, a club that put him in the shop window. Amusingly, I am sure those words will come back to haunt him as it is one thing underperforming in front of 3k, a totally different proposition underperforming in front of 10k+. As he has no future at the club, we should put him in the u20s and promote one of the younger lads, Mike Bishay maybe, as we have nothing to play for and nothing to lose.

Maybe one of the 6-7 signings promised by Gus Mackay will be a scrum half! As a previous poster said, I would be a lot more disappointed if Andy Ellis left.

Good riddance.

As a matter of interest Dave, how many players of the current squad would you not want us to lose???

Ellis. Purdham. Sarginson. Dorn. At a push - O'Callaghan and Wilkes.

Everyone else is filler, frankly.

Gale had a contract until the end of 2012, I hope we have made Bradford pay a transfer fee. Thought he was kicking on at the start of the season when we looked good, even at stand-off when I'm pretty sure he is a scrum-half who can do a job a tiny bit wider out.

I would still say I was disappointed to lose a relatively young player who does have good potential, but since our good start he has been erratic and the best part of his game has been his goal-kicking. As an earlier poster has stated he cannot boss a game and we already have a ready-made successor in the stand-off role with Dan Sarginson. With the purported move for Craig Gower, Chad Randall re-signing the only worry in my mind today is that Andy Ellis decides he needs to move on to further his career.

Luke Gale was no Tim Hartley, but he has hardly set the SL alight, and a move to a mid-level SL team says that he is a decent player, but one that will be replaced by an England stand-off, brought through the London system.

No great loss......far too inconsistent, hopeless in defence. Oh the irony of his snipe at the club and the crowds.....if we did not have so many mediocre players such as Gale we might have actually had some home wins and been able to build our crowds. How I wish I had not bit my tongue at his pathetic performance away against Hull, but his mum was sitting in front of us. As has already been said, obviously no commitment to Quins from now on, so stick him in the reserves and give a youngster a chance. Not so much a Gale, more of a breeze......jog on lad, jog on.

Good summary for me, and I'd certainly rate Gale a better goal kicker than, for instance, Pat Richards.

I'd like to think Gale could have grown better with us, as he's still young and has potential, but given the noises about player recruitment this winter it should be possible to replace him without weakening the squad, which probably wouldn't have been the case a year ago.



"Luke Breeze". I like it! I'd be cautious about banishing him to the reserves though, unless there's someone genuinely ready to be given a Superleague chance. I like the look of Sarginson, but he's already in alongside Gale. For instance, is someone like Bishay really ready yet? It would be a bit embarrassing to drop Breeze, then have to recall him because a youngster was badly exposed.

Pretty much agree, but he's now gone to Bradford. He could come good there. Agree that he's inconsistent. Last year always functioned best when Orr was on the pitch. Lacks maturity IMO - maybe he'll develop it. And the ability to tackle.
